Hi Melvin
I really think the one on the right is part of the DF loop housing (the back end – however the rearmost part is broken off). Not sure about the bit on the left though – it looks a bit smaller.
Thanks for the pic – that’s great – is there any chance someone could measure the length?
Maybe parts of a DF loop fairing Melvin? Any chance of some dimensions? I’m looking for one for the Whitley…
Hi Steve
First of all, well done – I wish I had the time to do something similar. An American called Ron Werneth spent some time in Japan in the last ten years and interviewed many IJN veterens – he may still be living out there. I do know he used to write for some of the magazines. I think he might be able to help you.
You could post over in WIX – perhaps they or one of our Americans friends has a contact for him.
Another plea for help please chaps. My book of Second World War veterans’ stories is targetted for publication early next year. Among the 100+ interviews I have conducetd, I have covered every nationality of the major combatants except the Japanese.
All attempts to track down survivors and/or existing transcripts have failed; usually with a dead-end or unanswered emails. Is there anyone out there who might be able to put me in touch with a potential source please? I know there are a few transcripts on the Internet, but it has not been possible to trace or make contact with the copyright holders.
Thanks in anticipation.
Me 109 – are you not lurching from one disaster to another?
This business is between the relatives and the MoD only, and possibly the landowner. Interfering on a whim shows extremely poor judgement. I would leave well alone if I were you.
Amazing – never seen that before – what fantastic skill 😮
Freehand roundels! How many aircraft painters here do that? 🙂
Thank you Ross
Email sent. Not sure about the panels, suspect not required but will find out.
Cheers
Hi Elliott,
You did not mention what Mk.
Richard Parr, Retroaviation, has a stock of Bubble Canopy cockpit covers still in their packaging.
I’ve got some bare BI.6/8 pilot port and starboard coaming panels up for disposal.
Regards
Ross
Cheers Bruce
Not sure when that will be, but might give you a ring if that’s okay.
I’ve got instruments – get up here before pub time one weekend, and we’ll sort them out
Thanks Peter
I’m keeping an eye out on the bay :p
Theres been a shed load of canberra bits including windows on ebay lately.
Thanks guys – it doesn’t have to be a hangar – a fre-fab workshop would also be a possible runner.
BSA – those are massive! Thanks for posting.
Looks good!
Not sure about your switches – I have never noticed that before – perhaps the default was to make the holes larger in the factory – then it would never be a problem.
Cheers
Thanks guys – the T2 is a bit of a monster but you never know. Never hurst to think big 🙂
It’s not going to be in Westminster Pete – that really would be interesting!
Bri – good suggestion – I will try and have a look – hopefully it’s not too late – I went past the new stadium last weekend – it looks almost finished from the outside…
Hi Geoff – looks great – nice to see some pics. I note the lanc control wheels in the background! Did you ever manage to find a real one?
Cheers
If the relatives want more information on the loss of the aircraft they can contact the Air Historical Branch – they should be able to help. Good luck.
Looks very comfy!
What condition was it in? Not good by the sounds of things?
