That last bit counts out the odd airshow then….. 😉 😀
Are Airshows odd? 😀 .
Seriously though as with Airshow regulations they do not fly over the crowd, Which is what i was meaning but After working 12 hours today my Brain is at least half dead if not a bit more, So i may not have wrote it as clearly as i ment to.
Trouble is , it is a risk assessment value and someone has plugged the wrong factors in. Until the right factors are input you will not get the correct risk level as far as the instigators of the current ruling are concerned. (Someone may have to admit they made a tiny sort of whoopsie in assessing these factors initially which would also be difficult).
Bit like politics really isn’t it?
I would say it is politics, And thats what the problem is.
Sally B was not ment to be victim to this regulation nor was any other warbird, This was more aimed at the Airlines and nobody i would guess remembered there are some Vintage Aircraft who will fit in to the catagories tht were ment for the likes of 737s.
Cannot understand what all the fuss about Sally B is really?
Its a insurance matter and i think nobody is asking you to understand really i guess you do not need understand either, All i know is the majority of people are very passionate about Sally B’s plight and maybe together we can do something to solve the problem.
As to the liabilty thing is a tricky situation but its worth remembering Pink Lady and Sally B only fly for 20 or 30 hours a year, They are not allowed to fly over built up areas or anywhere where there is a large gathering of people, They do not carry passengers and do not perform any dangerous manouveres when displaying, The aircraft they are being compared to the 737 does carry fare paying passengers, Does fly over built up areas and has a high number of flying hours per year, The two types can not really be compared trouble is this ruling does compare them.
My guess, FWIW, is that they turn the napoleonic blind eye to this EU bureaucratic clap trap. Most of Europe seem to pick and choose which bits of the Brussels outpourings they chose to comply with, and ignore the rest.
That said, I really would like to know how they’ve overcome the problem
CM
When talking to one of Sally B’s ground crew at Duxford on VE day he mentioned that Pink Lady was not effected as the French did not inforce this ruling in the same way the UK Government.
I think we should be less blaming the EU and more thinking what our Government should be doing.
You want to start worrying about the engine when the plane is sponsored by an elastic band making company LOL 😮
Thats stretching thing a bit i think 😀
If a Merlin made the same noise as the bloody Crazy Frog, it’d be back in the engine shop, rapido! 😀
I was thinking the same as you.
Given recent happenings, it is safe to say that nothing is getting any cheaper in the world of historic aviation. With this in mind the question of sponsorship again crops up and becomes ever more relevant.
Discuss 😀
Love the photo, But would strongly worry that the Merlin in the Mustang would end up sounding like that bl*ody frog 😀 .
Serouisly i feel sponsership is the way forward as the money is such a major issue now, I hope we don’t get Aircraft in logo’s like the seavixen more rather see subtle things like Brietling did on the Fighters it does not ruin the markings then and shows the Aircraft more how they were when used.
Why not if these big companies have the money and the willing to spend some in the industry i say, It could be a case of do or die after all.
3/4 September (same weekend as Biggin Hill)
It was a good show last year (if a little windy), and was a week earlier (Bank Holiday weenend). I would think that many of the items will operate out of Biggin this year.
Yes most of the list for Biggin Hill has same items on it too, Its a pity they both the same weekend, But i guess from a organisers point of view its probably a good thing as you can share costs a little, Also maybe you can book more things if they operating from different Airfields like this.
I will stay loyal to Biggin this year as its my home show but i am very glad to see Shorham has a nice lineup and is a lovely place to see a Airshow at too, I much enjoyed my first visit last year.
I overheard a veteran pilot in one of the Art vendors marquees, as he pointed at a painting of hurricanes taking off he said “disgraceful – they should have had their bloody wheels up by now!”
classic 😀
I love that comment.

I was wondering if she would do Biggin, I hope on her way there she can make a pass over the site of the old Croydon Airport and the memorial, Just like the BBMF do every year, It would be nice to know this lady returned to Croydon after all these years.
Was sad to see that this debate became a mod bashing exercise.
I want to thank people for there nice comment for Lena and me i hope we get to meet some if not all of you at some point soon.

Maybe we should all take a leaf out of Tim Robbin’s character from The Shawshank Redemption. A letter or two per week asking your MP how he’s progressing with his enquiries…
I like this idea and there are enough of us to do this.
I can not believe they can rate a B-17 as being the same as a 737, Ok both were built by boeing both multi engined one noisier than the other mind And both can fly to berlin and back easily, Mind you B-17s did’nt land and they did a lot more damage.
I really fear we could lose Both Sally B,and Pink Lady from Europe at this rate and that to me is a insult to the crews of such Bombers who died for a free Europe, A Europe thats now full of money wasting bureaucrats who pen push all day and tie us all up in red tape, Whats this world coming to?.
Were the events of 1939-1945 just for all this we got now i think not.
I will be visiting Sally B on Sunday like most of us will and sign any petition and do all i can to save her.
Well done Comet somebody else who deals in the truth, ignore the rest there either writing it because they think thats the way they should be, or they are JF’s themselves.
I am not sure anyone can call them self a “Pure Britain” if you think of our History is more than lightly everybodies ancestors are from other countries.
To me there is no such thing as a Pure Brit but there is such a thing as pure Bullsh1t.
Picture the scene Everybody who has desendants from other countries goes back to the country there ancestors are from, Could the last person here please turn the light out?.
I would like to thank the people who have said kind words here its nice to see such words,I thought i would be very open with this subject and tell people of the situation Lena and i are in, Love does not choose nationalities or boundaries fear racism and bigotry does.
