I grew up in New Addington and can honestly say the Cunningham was one of only two histotic buildings on the estate the other being Fishers farm which is used by the council, People on the estate did not want the cunningham pulled down and overall it seems they do not want a Lidl superstore either,Tesco’s maybe Lidl no.

As to the Propeller pub i think my camera needs to wander that way also and catch her for history sake before the bulldozers head that way too.
Its a pity in the country we have little respect for our pubs or modern local history, These pubs were used by heroes who saved our land and now they ruined, Does not seem so right really.

The lyrics are maybe awful but they are very catchy and i think thats a skill if you can get a lyric into somebody’s head.

duxfordhawkI personally feel good luck to them, Its very clear they love each other and have for so many years.
He married Diana mainly as she was seen as a beauty with innocence she had no past and was ideal in their view to bear royal children and future king or queen(king ideally i think), And as some people say he never loved Diana and after she had William and Harry it was lightly the marriage would end, Easy to say in hindsight i guess but its clear Camilla has had a place in his heart for all this time.
I also think to Camilla’s credit she was really kept out of the crap the press have dealt out even when they have been really nasty about her, She could of at any point sold her story or something, I know the press will have a field day with this story and will watch there every move.
I wish them well and overall it does nothing to change our lives in any way so why should we condemn them?, At the same time i am not sure we should really be that happy for them either.
duxfordhawkI do think Western Europe is going to hit a decline at some point, Econonically i think it hit a peak for Western europe and Eastern European countries are now going through huge development and investment potientially they could overtake countries such as the UK with time i guess, Its natural that Western Europe has developed about as far as it can for the moment and countries such as Poland are now going through a more rapid development stage which boosts there ecomonies etc, Being part of the EU is of benefit to any country really and i think we will see much more of Eastern Europe countries applying to join the EU and the Eu could expand quiet rapidlly i expect, I think eventually this will be good to all EU countries and open more and more new markets for trade.
I also wonder because at the moment a lot of our economy relies on migrant workers who come to Western Europe for jobs, At a certain point the countries they came from will be much more established if many of these workers decide to return to there home countries where would that leave Western Europe.

It’s a real shock and surprise to have won the competition – there were some cracking shots among the entries. Some of you will know that I only took up photography in May of last year, but I’m lucky to count some of Britain’s best young aviation photographers among my friends, and they’ve given me plenty of advice.
Photography adds a whole new dimension to this wonderful hobby of ours, and I’m certainly glad I started “snapping”. Some of the guys on this forum produce stunning results with kit costing in the thousands, but at the other end of the spectrum you can have fun and get half decent results for a fraction of the cost. My kit (Fuji S5000, 2 x 512MB 1 x 256 MB cards) cost in total around £300. A copy of Photoshop though is an absolute must, as pictures “out of the camera” with non-DSLRs do need a bit of post-production.
I’m sure I will join the DSLR people in the next year or so, but at the moment I think I’ll hang onto the S5000 for the coming airshow season, and hopefully have a crack at this competition again next year.
Finally a few thanks – to Dan Butcher and Mark McEwan over at UKAR for getting me into photography in the first place, to Yak11Fan for inviting me to the Hardwick Open Day to get the “winning” shot, and to RobAnt for organising the competition and stumping up the prize out of his own pocket! And also to everyone on both UKAR and this forum for their kind words when I’ve posted my pictures. I think we’d all agree that its great to read some nice comments!
Now hopefully, my “success” will mean Mrs Dano will be more understanding when I say I’m off to Jessops to spend a few grand…
Well done Dan worthy winner and proof how we can get great photo’s with non D-SLR camera’s this has been a great thread and has made me think more on buying a photo shop to tweak here and there at moment other than resizing on camera(if needed) i do not do anything else, What programs do people recomend?, My Fuji S602 has got to last me at least another year yet and 2005 will be its 3rd season and i fancy a bit of photoshop fun if anyone can advise.
P.S Dan good luck with Mrs Dano on that Jessops trip. 😀
duxfordhawkIts intresting really because ok Spitfires and P-51s are quiet common but of these two types there are rare marks, For example there is only one flying Spitfire of these marks Mk1( or will be) ,Mk11,MkXI, and of the other variants there are not too many MK18 or 19s either and any mark of seafire is ultra rare , Its the same in P-51s a A or a B/C variant to me would be very rare a D version far less rare.
How rare something is does not really relate to its price mainly because i guess things like Spitfires and Mustangs will always seem more exotic due to there history.
To me all warbird and vintage jets are rare compared to the amount of them that were built, But something a Firefly, P-38,P-39,P-63 etc would be rarer, Its all relative really, For example if 10 were built and 8 exist now is that rare?.

Exactly what i was thinking the Swastika was used by one evil group in its history but basically before then it was a symbol peaceful symbol.
If we ban the Swastika maybe we should ban the Red stars after all the soviets did some awful things in Poland during world war 2, also the Red Japanese flag,And while we at it Maybe the USA stars and bars and the UK union flag should be banned too as they both have been symbols of hate at sometime,But seriously i don’t feel banning any flag or symbol is right.
What is right is to educate the young of the evil that happened and try and prevent it happening again, The swastika did not cause the evil that occured itrs was just one of many symbols of that time, And banning it will not change what happened.

* It came down in a ‘nose-dive’, (as opposed to the tail-dive, when aeroplanes reverse into the ground)
Glad pilots are ok and nobody was hurt on the ground, Accidents will happen sometimes but the record they had is great.
I hate it when they say Aircraft nose-dived into the ground, The nose end tends to be the heavy bit so what do they expect?.My Late father used to always say try and sit near the tail of a Airliner as they never back into a mountain.

Yes but if you had a pile of rotting metal(and thats sadly all she is now) and you have a chance to make a bit of money from it instead of needing to pay for it to be removed what would any of us do?.I guess also if the cocpit and other parts can be salvaged then its not such a bad deal after all its not everyday you can buy a Vulcan cockpit.
Its a pity she is lost but here is hoping the cockpit and a few other parts will survive then its not a total waste.
