I must admit though I don’t feel calling it a Spitfire 26 does it any favours.

I’m not against aircraft such as spitfire mk26,i just feel its wrong to name them that,i think to carry the name of aircraft it “copies” it should be much more faithful to the original like the me262 new builds are, essentially i would love to see more full scale replicas of aircraft maybe time forgot as it were rather than lookalike scaled down aircraft, having said that the mk26 does look quiet good and has got to be fun to fly.

I got into historic and modern aircraft at same time i grew up near Biggin hill in the days when RAF still used it for training this ment a Hunter or hawk flying round was not to rare,i made model of a spitfire with my uncle then it went from there the model was a matchbox one the multi coloured molding type, once a went to a airshow that was it i caught the bug,Largely due to Ray Hanna when i saw him in 1982 at biggin i was six, funny as a kid i remember not liking G-FIRE much because was’nt the right colour but at the time i thought spits were only Brown/green or grey/green,and would have hated anything different.

I would not mind full scale replicas of any mark spitfires not currently flying at least then get to see that shape in sky but can,t see the point unless powered by a merlin or griffon personally think the so called mark26 is poor cousin to a real spit and almost cheapens the name.

As far as i know TFC still own La11 and plan to rebuild it as to OFMC i am so thankful to see a La9 until 1996 i had not even heard of this aircraft i saw both displays at Duxford and reckon she will fly in UK if possible again oneday, seems ironic that people seem so down on OFMC for taking aircraft to NZ Ray Hanna is from there and he has done so much over the years at Airshows here seems selfish to me.

Think the flight scenes in piece of cake are a great Tribute to Mark Nick and Hoof and its just one other way that these people have touched our lives, they fly on forever now.I remember watch the last show in series in bed after being a diffficult teenager and my late dad being p*ssed off at me,even then i was a huge aircraft fan.
