I agree totally about British Journalism in cases like this, Trouble is sensationalism sells and thats what they want.
I guess we should count ourselves lucky its not made big news in the national press, The fact that the crew survived does not suit there doom and gloom theories.
Everytime a accident hits the press i spend a lot of my tme trying to convince people that Airshows and vintage Aircraft are safe and are operated properly, Bad press and gossip is the main danger to the Aviation world.

While any death is tragic. Irwin was always a camera hog. Some call his act enthusiasm, I just saw it as egotism. A lot of time the animals he wanted to film would be just sleeping, and he would go and pick it up, forcing it to lash out at him. But hey, it made for great TV. Oh well, The Crocodile Hunter was a Hollywood character, and he died like a Hollywood character.

Just let this be a lesson to people. Wild animals like people just want to be left alone.

I have to say i think you are wrong about him, He certainly was not Hollywood and this is even more proven by the fact his family do not want him to have a State Funeral.
His shows were about education and he knew the risks from the Animals he was dealing with, I never saw him wake a Animal up Just for the sake of it, I did see him checking the animals health and well being and general conservation, I know his hands on approach has its critics but i feel it was often more educational than the normal approach.

I hope his legacy will live on, He did a lot for conservation of rare animals and gave countless millions a huge insight into these animals, His hand on aproach did have critics but he made his own choices to do that and was very professional, He did things very differently from what most Wildlife presenters had done before him and made for very entertaining Television.

The baby situation was in hindsight probably a mistake but he was always in control of the situation and nobody was harmed, I think this is certainly not something to remember him by.

Its sad and ironic that of all the animals he dealt with it was a docile Fish that was to take his life, At least he died doing something he loved, He was a fine Ambassedor for Australia and for nature lovers everywhere.

Sad sad News i am totally shocked, His love of Animals was infectious, He had a passion that is pretty rare in terms of TV Documentary presenters these days. This made him un-missable Television and great entertainment.

I am sure a lot of people have been influenced by his shows and i hope his efforts in conservation and education will carry on.

Its tragic he was lost this way but at least he died doing something he truelly loved.
