Just out of interest, does anyone know of a model of a Tupolev Tu-16 ‘badger’? The only one i can find is the Trumpeter one with some sort of ugly maritime nose, and a Russian 1/144 kit but apparently thats a dog of a kit.

Actually yeah i think it was in the Paras and then linked up with Howard and his lot, i remember reading about it in Stephen Ambroses book ‘Pegasus Bridge’ and also seeing him at a remembrance day event on TV with his red beret on

Richard Todd was actually one of the airborne troops that captured Pegasus Bridge, not one of the Commandos.

Cool,i might go in a week or so, not much to do during the summer and i can get the bus to Leicester then a train direct to Leicester, would make an interesting day out and if i get the chance could go to IWM London as well depending on how busy the Tube is.

How longs it open till? I’m tempted to get the train down to London to have a look at the Spitfire and Hurricane in the Flight Gallery, this exhibition should persuade me even more

Well, i’d rather pay £6 to sit in and help pay for a Lightning than pay £5 to look at a Vulcan in bits!

By the way, how much is it to sit in a Lightning? Always wanted a look in the fine beasts. Also, is it the camouflaged Lightning that’s going to be running? Hope so, she’s my favourite 😀

Then again, it could be the ‘suggested donation’ like they had the last time i was at Brunty. Was never asked for it or anything, i just had a quick look round and then walked off back to the other jets. £5 is a complete rip off, i’d consider paying a quid or two but nothing more

For me the Stuka signifies the Blitzkrieg and entire early war era, whenever the Stuka is mentioned by BEF Troops e.t.c. they all mention the siren scared the **** out of them, and i remember one ex-BEF soldier recalling advice someone gave them, ‘never look a Stuka in the face’ or something like that
