I was out at Thumrait from 2002-2004 😉
Whilst there I heard about the ‘famous pictures’ and after questioning afew people I managed to get my hands on the original pictures for afew hours….
I scanned enhanced and put them on the web

Wow! hard to believe those are real
Sad to hear, i’m pretty new to the forum and don’t get involved much but i’m still very shocked and saddened to hear of his death, i just don’t know what to say. My thoughts go to his family and friends
Hope the greenpeace one stays in UK, shes a fine looking bird
Don’t get down to the South West much but if i do i’ll PM you, cheers for the offer. Anyone out there know how much either a complete or nose section of a Harrier Gr.3 goes for nowadays?
Good idea, swapping nose cones from Gr.1 to Gr.3, i was wondering if that could be possible. Are you planning on taking her to any Bruntingthorpe events? Might go up to Cockpitfest one day but its a whole year away now!
It is? I thought ZD670 was originally a Harrier Gr.3, and Harrier II’s were Gr.5’s and Gr.7’s?
Nice! Didn’t realise you were gonna convert her into Gr.1 configuration! Looks bloody beautiful, you planning on taking her to any shows?
Does it work? Now that im 17 i’m on the look out for a car, absolutely any as long as it works
Man, one of those (or all of em!) would make a great addition to my planned collection of Cold War Jets when im a millionaire!
Most tourists are still at work, because the summer school holidays don’t start until this afternoon, except here in Leicestershire where we finished last week
True, but this is the first opportunity i’ve had to go for years, and i’ll most likely be away next year (RAF) so probably last chance i’ll have for a looong time, however when i get my car i’ll be able to go to plenty of airshows
Bit too far for me – but just found out the Vintage Sports Car Club is having its annual race day at the local race track, with plenty of nice old 1900’s-1960’s cars going at full blast around the track, think i know where im going!
Was once having a nice hike in China when i found a Short Stirling complete with chinese markings in the undergrowth in the jungle
Brill! Love the 2nd and 6th shots
Just had a look for Stirlings in china/egypt, found nothing for china but got this for egypt http://www.xs4all.nl/~tropics/egypt.htm
