So in other words the only classic aircraft will be a tiger moth, a few piper cubs and maybe a spitfire flypast?

Theres no way you could get an aircraft carrier down that river, it’d be a tight fit for a WW2 motor torpedo boat, the river tends to twist quite a lot and with a lot of arched bridges, unless the Governments reduction of the MoD budget has meant the aircraft carrier is now 1/100th scale

Do you mean the SRN 4? They were took out of service a few years ago, but theres two at the Hovercraft Museum on the site of an old RNAS airfield, think it was HMS Daedalus.

Probably already posted (Don’t have time to read the whole thread) But saw a video clip of a reporter at an airshow clipped on the head by a US Army Cub spotter!

Probably means the BBMF and flying Canadian one? After all, they are ground runnable – they just fly as well!

Bit off topic, but whats the crowd situations like at Shuttleworth? Might have a car this year (only just old enough to drive) so would like to pop down one day. Is there a flightline walk like at Legends? Personally i prefer smaller airshows with not many crowds but good atmosphere

I’ve seen that sort of thing at Bruntingthorpe, its one of the reasons the only airshow i’ve ever been to is Coventry in 2003 i think it was. Funnily enough, don’t recall seeing any chairs and tents padlocked to the fence there, wonder why

Cheers for the pics, shame to see you go, i’m sure you’ve got a good reason though. Take care, Bob

    Many planes do.

Russian jets, for instance, can apparently do that, hence the FOD doors on the intakes. Transport jets like the IL-76, too..

Harriers can also land on grass, (it is somewhat the goal of such planes 😉 ), but then, they usually land vertically, so it is a different matter.

Apparently Harriers can’t take off vertically when their fully ‘bombed up’ as they are too heavy

Signs sucked. Period. Methinks M. Night Shyamalan’s halo has slipped slightly with his last couple of efforts.

I enjoyed WotW, and have to say that after a thorough de-brief from a mate of mine who is more versed in the original version, found it was quite close in most aspects to the original story. Tom Cruise didn’t suck too much either, although Dakota Fanning did scream an awful lot more than I would have liked.

On a side note, there are three other versions of War of the Worlds in production: one by Pendragon Pictures, another straight-to-video version, and an adaptation of the Jeff Wayne musical version.

Wow! the war of the worlds by pendragon looks bloody brilliant!
