No offence, and i love Vulcans, but theres one heck of a load of them about, pretty much medium/large aircraft museum has one, so perhaps the loss of one isn’t such a pity. Perhaps if only the nose is preserved it would be a good compromise.
I sure hope so, just imagine the WWI line up they could have at Shuttleworth! Sorry, i’ll stop drooling over the keyboard now :-p
Very nice, would look better with an RAF roundel though :-p Ah well i’m not that fussed, seeing a Catalina fly is good enough for me
Very nice, loved the shot of the Hunter and Javelin! Can you go into the workshop/storage area, or do you have to ask permission/book in advance? Must get myself there sometime, it’s been a while!
Everyone will be most welcome next year to Bruntingthorpe to see G-VLCN make her first public display.
Sweet, Bruntingthorpes only a very short drive from me! Will it be based at Bruntingthorpe when its flying? I’ve waited many years to see her complete again, last time she was i was about 5, can still remember seeing her now, what a beautiful beast 😀 Will she still be in the wraparound camo? Looks magnificent on her
Okay, just realised thats the same company! Thought they operated more than one but could be wrong, shes a beautiful beast!
I thought a haulage company was still using them? Was advertised on the back of one of the RAFM Cosford guidebooks from about 1999-ish
BTW Seller will post item to the UK 😮
Paul
Yeah, but i bet even Royal Mail would be able to lose it 😀
Even though i have no chance of going, i’d say Malta. Not only for the fact theres a Spitfire and Hurricane, but also the completion of the restoration of the Hurricane at the museum there and the new building, and most importantly the sheer fact its Malta, one of the most famous places in aviation history, and one of the most interesting to me, going from on the verge of destruction and defended by a few Gladiators, to attacking the enemy with Beaufighters e.t.c., it should be a film!
The RAFM Shackleton at Manchester is supposed to be travelling to Cosford at some stage when it get’s replaced by a mundane half finished RJ . The actual percentage
of Shackleton’s preserved as opposed to outside in varying forms is incredibly small.
Whilst I agree that we cannot preserve them all – I feel that an example of of the MR.2 and 3 inside would be a start.
Wow, great news! By the way, forgive my stupidness, but whats an RJ?
From what it looks like, and im 99% certain on this, when Airspace is complete the Varsity will be moved into the conservation area of Airspace along with the Victor. If not, chances are it will be moved into hangar 5 for restoration as they’re won’t be much else to ‘fix up’, all i can think of is the Vampire (you can see the wooden fuselage!) and the old lifeboat.
a Beaufighter (engines buried under by-pass road according to local rumour!),
Maybe you should dig them up and give them to the TFC :p
In case you don’t have it, i have the book ‘Beaufighter squadrons in focus’, i’ll scan the page/pages on 252 squadron, if thats any help? It should have at least one photo of a 252 sqn aircraft. Cheers, Bob
Hope not, i prefer the Mk IV! Although, it would be very interesting if they could exchange the cockpits, for example at a flying display one day have it as Mk I, and next the Mk IV!
Very nice, i’d love to get there one day, especially to see the two Whirlwinds and Shackletons
