    Easy……Black 6.

    My thoughts exactly… 🙁

Black 6 is a stunning machine with a great history. It would be nice to restore it again, but I think some good replacements are well on the way. Think about Glenn Lacey’s Me109E-3 G-EMIL which is under restoration to airworthy status. Mr. Lacey even hopes to fly it next year (maybe). See this link:
http://forum.airforces.info/showthread.php?p=346466#post346466 (look for the post of RLM).

I only hope it stays in Europe when completed.

Here in Belgium, I would like to import a spitfire that served the Belgian Airforce. It would be nice to have a spit based here. Possible candidates are spit MKIX MK912 (now with edd Russel), MH434 and MKXIV RN201 and some other surviving ex BAF spits.

So I need to travel 200 km to eat a good crab sandwich? I may consider it Snapper. Maybe a visit to the museum too while I’m there. 😉

So much work and still having some time to post your frustration on this board. You must find some consolation on this forum Daz. I feel a bit sorry for you, but things will go better tomorow! 🙂

By the way, I’m still enjoying my holiday! :p

Also I must agree that it is better to have it restored in any markings than have it rot away in some obscure place.

That is the most important after all. I hope they take good care of this machine, wherever she will go.
(I do prefer the finnish markings, but a secure future for this aircraft is much more important)

PS: a article can be found in the Flypast of march 1999 (page 9) with some history and recovery of this machine.

Well the RAF still operates a Battle of Britain verteran Spitfire Mk II in the BBMF. Maybe that is the oldest?

Did you read the question Dave? :p

Anyone able to shed light on the golden oldies (display aircraft such as the BBMF, obviously not included).
