This thread was started to remind us of a tragic accident 60 years ago. It has has degenerated into a slanging match. In my oppinion this shows a real lack of respect to those who died.
The recessed rivets look very unusual for a Spitfire, and as Mackerel said the interior was either silver or bare metal. Is it from ebay as the photo tag suggests?

I find that large out of town supermarkets have no interest in the magazine sections and anyone can simply open the bag to browse at their leisure. Appalling behaviour.
