Looking forward to it, and don’t forget Heston Blumenthal’s Little Chef on the other side of the dual carriageway! Will there be grips, Air Ministry?

Thanks for the info, there are units in degrees C and Meters but my Japanese fails me on the rest!

I shall set the children to it in the morning. Victorian school, that’s the way forward.

Thanks Tony! Bit of a problem then as to where it came from. There is a ‘Definately’ Spit sheet back at aunt Philippa’s but I won’t be able to get it until after the weekend. This is from an eighties dig. Will have to consult the notes…

Hello Tony, I’ve got a complete but, inevitably, distorted front armour plate which i’ll sort out measurements from if you need them. Or you could bring a big sheet of paper to Popham and draw around it.

Regrettably I don’t know. I met her a couple of times in the mid seventies but she hasn’t been with us for quite a while.

You’re right Moggy, Sleap it is. I had an aunt Fanny who lived near there, in Cockshutt. Honestly.

Hello Chris, these might be useful. Someone posted the gallery a while back but I now can’t remember where. Sourcing the stick might present problems though. The Warplane Aircraft Recovery Group up a Slepe airfield have a very good Master display, including excavated panel. There are currently no laws outlawing dreaming.

There’s a nice little museum at Dunkeswell, set up by a guy who has searched the field since he was a kid. He has some very interesting pieces picked up over the years, turret controls etc (lovely star detail on the grips) and I’m sure he would know if there was anything buried. There is something American buried in the West Country and your invitation will arrive in due course.

Thanks Oliver, your grandfather is a real gentleman! He sent me a signed cropped photo after a chat on the phone and I’ve since got a canvas mounted copy of the photo direct from Mirrorpics to go with it. Both have pride of place on my wall.

Hello Chris, the guy selling them had a lot of stuff from the Netherlands, so probably not from the UK.
