Plenty of the Airfix box art, and other companies, was simply copies of photographs. If you want to get it right, trace it!
Part 5 is American as it has AN fittittings on it.
Lovely display.
Looks to be asbestos firewall sandwich. Near the engine but I wouldn’t go sniffing at it.
The centre gyro looks very similar to piece I rescued from my ATC museum. It was from a US Navy liberator/ PB4Y-1 which crashed in the Brecon Beacons. I’ll try and find a picture but I think it went to the museum at Dunkeswell where it flew from. Tenuous but a start!
That must have been very annoying Batura. Packaging needs to be nearly bomb proof to survive the tender mercies of the post office. I don’t have any of those light units unfortunately. I’m looking for two similar ones for this Sea Hawk panel. If anyone has the extra side panels for sale or swap I would be interested to hear.
It’s fair to say the Hendon Victoria Station spinner didn’t come from this engine! it would have been a little more distorted having passed through the paving slabs with an engine behind it: http://www.tmbartmetal.com/images/story/small/story-2-sm.jpg
Thanks for the links, very impressive!
It looks so much cleaner and more organised inside than it’s British parent. You’ve not got too much to do either, compared to an empty shell. Thanks for the pics.
I believe Spits only carried one ‘dumpy’ oxygen bottle and two longer, thinner air tanks for the pneumatics. This wreck appears to have two oxygen bottles. There also appears to be some thin steel box structure which doesn’t look Spitfire. I’d guess at Battle or similar. And that really is a guess!
Having looked at the link with two recovered Brownings, it’s not a Battle.
That’s lovely! Is there much left inside? The centreline canopy makes it look so different.
Hello Jason, the spade grip is also probably Harvard. They also had the brake lever and locking catch mounting holes but had a blanking plate bolted over them. This would have been taken off to remove the gun button and plumbing. Only the AH number will tell!
Enola Gay centre cap? It was Martin built so possible! http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-WWII-ENOLA-GAY-Aircraft-Control-Wheel-Center-Cap-Yoke-Button-/261626627578?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cea2985fa
Looks to be RAF/RCAF Harvard. Certainly worth making an offer on! The small holes at the top of the ring might be for the extra button shown here: http://s69.photobucket.com/user/galgos1/media/NA%20Harvard/DSCN4330_zps8aef7891.jpg.html
Second link to that Harvard cockpit pic in less than a week, they’re like buses!
Here’s a Harvard 2 panel pic to help you, Aircraft: http://s69.photobucket.com/user/galgos1/media/NA%20Harvard/DSCN4330_zps8aef7891.jpg.html
That’s a very good history with your 104 panel, Batura. How much are you after for it?
