Thanks Anon. SNEB does look similar. I’ll measure the tube diameters tomorrow. Each is about the diameter of a 500ml can and an early plan was to convert it into a drinks dispenser (without any cutting).

I’ve got one of the sticks. It was a complete column but I haven’t got room so the bottom half went to Shoreham last year and never came back. One plane can indeed go a long way!

Here is the very nearly finished T7 panel, although it would look nicer with a spade grip! The only missing panel bit is a light for the central bracket, and some better quality woodwork to hold it all together. Shelf space precludes anything to the sides, unfortunately. Thanks for all the advice!
Yes, there was one on the instrument panel to power the gun sight. Look above the rate of climb, top right BFP.
The lamp holder looks like the two pin plug for an instrument panel gun sight connection. Probably had many other Air Ministry based applications though…
Thanks for posting Pagen, that is such a shame. I stood by quite a few gliders at Saint Athan in my ATC days. It was always too windy to fly. Pretty sure I had my first flight in a Chipmunk there as well. Is there any RAF presence left at all?
If you look very closely at the camouflaged ‘outside’ you might see it stamped Gun Camera, I have one which confused me till I found the writing!
The link here has some DFS 230 glider pics, and it looks wrong for one of them. Also found a photo of the ‘passenger’ seating. You wouldn’t.

Saw most of the feature and everyone sounded very positive. Presumably the saying and doing are very different! The hangers really do look impressive and well worth saving, but that must be an astronomical cost to repair 90 year old wooden trusses. I think a similar thing happened at Bletchley Park; ‘trustees’ saw some of the site sold off for development with the smaller museums pushed out. Just had a look on the google map aerial and sure enough, big housing development.
Cheers Anon, all turned out nice in the end. A small UC indicator is on it’s way from the ebay machine as we speak. Newark is a bit far for twice in a year!
Very nearly done, with some poor quality wood bodging to hold it together. Thanks for the bits Bruce, the DI looks excellent. Everyone’s advice much appreciated. 🙂
Stick Grips
Very nice selection of British stick grips in the States, Lightning, Buccaneer, Harrier etc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ENGLISH-ELECTRIC-LIGHTNING-T-5-AIRCRAFT-CONTROL-COLUMN-STICK-GRIP-YOKE-/220948929016?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33719519f8#ht_695wt_1185
Not to me, certainly! I’ll make an offer, mind:)
