You’ve heard the expression ‘swelling up with pride’ I just used CO2. It made your day. Nick, most of the wreckage seemed deeply enough buried to have avoided the salt. Finally some items from the 80s dig which didn’t make the final cut.
Even better than the first one, better paced and better explained. Astonishing colour footage. Some very well preserved pieces came out.
Thanks for posting, fascinating stuff. I’ve got a seat out of XH534, also scrapped at St Athan but a good few years later. Would love to see more!
A good point from Mark12, the aircraft fragments were a bit anonymous covered in mud. The front armoured Stuka seat came out largely complete, along with most of the panel and ancilliaries. No trace of the pilot so he presumabley baled. Two possible Werk numbers were found painted on the airframe and another on the engine. Unfortunately none have been found in the loss lists. Here area couple of clean bits of Stuka. More to follow.
They squeezed a lot of war into a very short time! Nicely done though. More pics of the digging side of things here:

They do indeed fill a hole Tony! Just got around to fitting your temp gauge faces to my panel.
These just fished on ebay, looked a bit wrong. The G and 3s don’t look like a wartime AM font. Any thoughts?

I think we get it on Friday Phill, unless it’s cancelled for coverage of Max Boyce’s stubbed toe.
Not quite the BoB but an American P38 pilot had “jew Boy” painted in large letters on his aircraft. Brave. Link here:

A taster for tomorrow night. Several photos on the Red Kite Books website. Dawn in a little village on the French German border. Saw some snippets last night and it does very good.
Hello Dan, No idea about the gun sight label but the supercharger control panel was engraved on MkIX PT766. There seem to be a variety of engraved and etched labels, with some shocking reproductions being sold as original.
That is avery nice prop, Nick. Every garage should have Rhino buckets of parts pending lying around so nothing wrong there.
Malcolm, the pilot’s notes for the Battle I with a Merlin I give maximum permissable take off RPM as 2850. I’ve got a Defiant Merlin III label with take of RPM as 3000 as well. Not definative but going in the right direction! Where did your label come from?
A bargain for someone, unfortunately not me.
Cheers! Looks to be an early one?
In Wales we get a documentry about Ruth Madoc. Hi de Bl**dy Hi.
