may have been in flypast that i read about “restoration” of airframes in last couple of months
The legends poster shows a Zero! May be the old Harvard/Zero replica is coming back from New Zeland.
Ive read somewhere in the last month that the Viscount and 111 will be put in store/refurbished before they go on display in Scotland but i dont know where and when.
Have a look at the latest Cosford thread for a pic of their flying Canbera.
At Duxford yesterday and please correct me if i am wrong but thought BBMF could not get out of Conningsby?
At Duxford yesterday as well. Im still drying out and i think ive found rust on my legs. Is the robin going “ooo ooo ooo, this post is hot”?
Rob Whitton, if you have another look at the Viscount, the red/rusty stand on the right of the pic holds an engine from the nearest nacell of the Viscount.
Sadsack, cant be sure but i think that the windows have discolured on the Viscount but dont quote me.
You cant see on this pic but now they have started to take the Viscount apart it has highlited how bad a condition it is in. Loads and loads of rust on seems etc. Hope it gets refurbished before it goes on show at East Fortune
Little bit too early for me, only got going myself in early eighties (Halpenny Green 1982 with a 110 camera, have a very grainy pic of G-FIRE) but dont you think the 80’s were probably the most exciting for historics and we probably wont see that time again?
Rlangham, the way things are moveing id imagine pretty quickly, especially as the air show isnt that far off (3 or 4 weeks) and its positioned wright in the middle of where the market will be.
This weeks Cosford update.
The F111 was no where to be seen, the Trident is no more and they have tided up the area around what remains of the 707. The Viscount now has one engine off and there was two Apaches and a Sea King on the airfield!!
The first pic is not fantastic but that Canberra got up there pretty quickly!!!!!!! and the last is what i found walking around the area where they scrapped the Trident and 707. (The larger parts are Trident.)

i believe there was an artical recently in one of the aircraft mags about the south african shack and the above was mentioned.
Shame, would be nice to see life in some of the airframes. I imagine that i wouldnt understand the cost involved either.
thought i read somewhere that the Cosford 111 is a genuine Lackenheath airframe and Duxfords 71 never flew from the hall?
Just trying something with a photo.

Archer, it sure is. If you look carefully in the background you can see the cockpit section. Behind it is a row of seats an engine and a cowling.
