A few more photo’s.
Hi Guys
A few more photo’s from Saturday’s visit. All photo’s were taken by my son Max by the way.

Welcome to your new home.
Welcome to your new home!!!
Be Warned!!
XH668,
Re “Great stuff! Cant wait to see it and martin”.
Be warned the Meteor is both better looking and in better condition than Martin, but I didn’t say that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also be carfull what you say to Martin, his new lady wife is a nurse, and tells me she can be very handy with a needle if she so feels the urge. It’s to late for me though, I am already onher “hit list”!!!!!!!!!!
Time to tell!
OK, time to tell, it’s Gloster Meteor T7, WL405. My mate Martin’s new toy. All being well, she will be installed at her new home in the early afternoon on Wednesday.
Not only a new airframe at the Cold War Jets Collection, but also a new owner to the site, we look forward to sharing many a cup of tea and a good few biscuits with you in the future Martin, and maybe even doing a bit of work on the aircraft!!
Welcome aboard and according to sagindragin’s post, you are now officialy a “Missfit”!! now what will nursey say!!!!!!!!!!
Missfits, Yep!
Missfits? yep that sounds like the Brunty lads, I can live with that!
Good news, the owner of the “New arrival” has given me permission to tell you all about it, so, I will be back later!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, no!
No!
It’s not my airplane, but I am sure the new owner will let you all know when he is ready. Anyway, it’s not often I know something before the rest of you guys, so I am going to enjoy the moment!!!!
A new arrival!
All being well, there should be a “new arrival” next Wednesday, but not exactly a new type!!!
Hi Iank
I understand where you are coming from, but personaly, I belive a HLF grant is a double edged sword, due to the conditions that are inevitably attached.
Re Bruntingthorpe, the support we are getting from David is as strong as ever, yes we were inundated with cars for a couple of months over the winter, but numbers have now dropped dramaticaly, as Dave told us they would, and the runway, taxiways and the museum pan are all now clear and available to use.
TVOC have in all honesty not done a thing for any of us other users of Bruntingthorpe. Indeed, they have often made our lives hard. I would also like to point out that the good Doctor has never tried to build any contacts with any of us, indeed, I know for sure that he dosn’t even know who any of us are. I have had several situations where he has seen us around at both Bruntingthorpe and at other events, and has completly ignored us.
I actualy approached TVOC offering to use our aircraft to help them to fund raise, they didn’t even bother to get back to me!!
The best hope now for 558, assuming she will not get the funding to fly, is to get her back into the hands of the volunteers, who realy love and care about her. They will at the very least make sure she is loved in her old age!!
A reply to iank post 1685.
Hi Iank
Much as I appriciate your support, I will make my own possition clear re your proposals.
First, I live near to Bruntingthorpe, so it is handy for me to pop down there to work on our Jet Provost etc.
Second, There is no chance what so ever that we will ever get XN584 airworthy, our plan is to keep her taxiable as long as we possibly can, then one day retire her to static condition, we have no idea how long we can keep her running, it will depend on many factors, not least of all, our ability to fund her. Airworthiness is however totaly out of the question.
Thirdly, David Walton is a real gent and a unsung hero, we are allowed the use of Bruntingthorpe rent free, so we won’t get cheaper rates than that! But, we are expected, and enjoy to, get involved in helping to make open days etc a success.
Lastly, The main reason we so enjoy being a part of the Bruntingthorpe scene is the way it all works already. Why would we want to move or change things? There is a great bunch of people working down there, we all pull together when we need to, and a cup of tea is never far away. It is informal but safe and profesional.
A roof to work under from time to time would be nice, but we manage.
Thanks for the support, but to be honest, thanks but we are ok.
Ritch and Max.
That’s her.
It’s the ex Olympic 747 that is still at Brunty, she has the ASDA stickers on one side only, the stbd side is still as per the photo in the link.
A few departures and arrivals to add.
Here are a few from us, a mix of comings and goings, and one to make Bamel and TT18Timbo cry, sorry lads!!!
Max’s Bede BD-5 going out.
Max’s Slingsby T31B coming in.
J.P-4 Going.
Going.
Gone!
Sorry lads!
And J.P.-3 Going.
Thanks again.
Hi Matt
I am still waiting to here from D.W. before we do anything other than tape her up. And I honestly think we should wait till after the inevitable high winds that the next couple of months will bring. And possibly till she is towed outof the mud. She is weakened enough, and we can only make that worse when we start removing skin.
Re rivets, they are all dome heads in this area, not sure of the original American spec, but I don’t think anyone will notice if they are slightly different!!
I will let you know when and if I hear from D.W. he owns her so it’s his call.
Thanks again for being so helpfull.
Best wishes,
Ritch Blood.
Yep, that’s us.
Hi Kieth
Yep, that’s us, Max was having a bad hair day!!
And Bubbles, you and a few hundred others! I might as well get a target painted on my yellow jacket!! Actualy, the last time was ok, but last years twighlight run, when everyone came back down field in the dark was a bit hairy, all I could see was headlights coming straight for me. The things we do to put a pound or two in the buckets!!!
It’s behind the Jag!
The damaged area is behind the Jaguar!
Anyway, after playing with those rough boys over on the Lightnings, it will do you good to be introduced to something much more civilised!! We might even let you sit in our Jet Provost if you are good! (or Jet Bathtub as one guy called it last Saturday, thats the sort of people that the Lightnings attract!!).
Seriously though, we were the guys trying to get everyone to park in some sort of order (fat bloke, yellow jacket, grey hair and worried look on his face).
Just ask.
Keith
Next time you are around at Brunty, as Andy or any of the Lightning lads to point you in our direction, and we will be happy to show you around the aircraft in private. Or even PM me in advance and we will arrange something.
