    A brilliant event.

    Hi all

I thought it was about time I added my two peneth to all this.

Cockpitfest 2009 was without doubt the very best yet, I personaly came home feeling like I had been on a mini holiday, it was so relaxing.

The range and number of cockpits this year was brilliant, it was great to catch up with all our old mates, and as usual I came away with a load mor e-mail and contact details from new friends.

The aeroboot was larger than ever, and the Saturday night entertainment was wonderfull (and not just bill and his trolly!!!!).

I want to say a very big thank you to everyone at the museum, Bill of course was very pink by the end of the weekend!!! running around all weekend making sure we were all in the right place and had what we needed. But also to all of the rest of the staff at Newark, many who work quietly behind the scenes, but non the less make an important contribution to the event, thanks to every one of you.

We were an 11th hour adition to the event for various reasons, but were all so glad we went, even my good lady had a great time, and she dosn’t even like airplanes!!!!

We look forward to 2010, and hope to see you all again then, if not before.

    Yes we are coming!

    Hi Guys

Yes, we will be attending this year after all, and thanks for those kind words Howard, it is very much appriciated.

As a few of you know, my family has had a very traumatic time over recent months, one of the results being that we have now sold our Bruntingthorpe based Jet Provost and quit Phoenix aviation and Bruntingthorpe for good.

It was however the encouragment of the third member of our team, and the one who never gets the credit she deserves, my good lady wife, that made us decide to make the effort to get to the fest. She is even coming along, so long as she can stay in a hotel and not camp!!!

So last Friday, we purchased a trailer, and we now have a very raw Chipmunk project that we have not touched since last autumn on it and ready to hit the road.

After a long hard winter, it will be good to see all of our oldv friends again, and to make a few new ones.

    See you all there.
    Ritch, Max and Tarina Blood.

I will try to get some sort of price guide.

I will try and get “ballpark” prices together if I can, since there does seem to be quite a lot of interest.

ANON, not sure it would be Bruntingthorpe, we actualy said our goodbyes to the place today, and are no longer active there with any group, and as you may know, our Jet Provost is up for sale.

    It all helps.

    Ok guys

I here your coments, and that is exactly what I want, I am looking at the possibility of bringing these cockpits over, it hasn’t happened yet, but it might.

My contact in the USA is an expert in export and import of ex millitary airframes all over the world, he holds licences with the US government and knows what he is doing, so we will have to wait and see.

But please, keep the coments comming, it all helps.

    A few pics

    Ok guys
Here are the only photo’s I have at the moment.

    http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn93/xn584/A448-13-01.jpg

Please remember, this is just an exercise to see if it might be worth our while dragging tham all the way from the USA. The last thing any of us needs is a very expensive 40 foot container full of scrap metal.
I have no idea at the moment what will happen, or if it will happen, but I need to guage interest if I am going to do it.

You are all very kind, thanks.

    Hi guys
All of your kind words have been both noted and appriciated, and we are keeping an open mind for the time being.
Those of you closer to us now know both the full extent and nature of our problems, and again, your kindness at this very difficult time for us all has been a great support.
    Best wishes,
    Ritch and Max Blood.

I might stretch the value to £2,500

I basicaly agree with David, but With the engine I might stretch the value to £2,500 but no more.
£8,000 you would have to be mad to pay that.

    Look Familiar?

    Look familiar?
This is the photo shown on page 89 of the new book. It is not exactly the original, but is as near as you will get! I will explain.
Back in 2007, I was sitting comfortably watching an obscure DVD that I had picked up from some ware. As I was watching a piece filmed at RAF Cranwell, my good lady wife shouted the immortal word “Dinner!!” well I did as I have been trained and hit the pause button on the remote control, and there frozen before my very eyes was this image, not of just any Jet Provost, but or our own Jet Provost!!!!
The aircraft in question is of course Jet Provost Mk.3A, XN584, which I own in partnership with my son Max, and keep, in fast taxiable condition at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire. I then called upon the skills of my step son Zak, who used his magic to “pull” the image from the DVD, into a photo for us.
So, you see the image on page 89 is not actually a still photo at all, but a frame from an old Movie film that has been converted onto DVD format, and then the frame in question frozen for all time and held on my PC as a file! The only question I have is how did it get into this excellent book. And why is no one credited with it!!!!

    A few more pic’s

    Hi Guys
As some of you know, Max and me are the custodians of Mk.3A, XN584, which we maintain fast taxiable at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. So it was inevitable that we would eventualy turn up on this thread!
I also had the honour of working on Mk.1 G-AOBU durring my student days, and have much Mk.3 and Mk.4 expirience as well.
Here are a few photo’s that were kindly sent to us whilst we were reaserching XN584’s re-pain a couple of years ago, I am however ashamed to admit that I have lost the details of the gent who sent them to us, so if you see these, please take credit for them!
