E-427
Hi David
She is in private hands, on private property and not visible to the public, or from a road / path etc. And like many of the airframes we sell, she is an enthusiasts “plaything” as my wife would say!. Big boys toys!!!
The good news is, she is not either in a lake or at a paintball site.
It’s not cr**!
John
You of all people should know better, it’s not “the crap we have in store”, it’s treasure (well, that’s what I tell my wife anyway!).
Best of luck with your plans in 2008, (always a mistake to make plans, let it all eveolve around you! thats how we do it).
And a Happy New year to everyone up north.
Bruntingthorpe Hunter.
Hi David
May I ask why you wan’t to know? I am part of Nev Martin’s, Phoenix Aviation Group, who sold this aircraft. The new owner is a very private person, so I am reluctant to go “public” on this thread.
P.S. No it wasn’t us who dropped it and Kna*****d it!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT, I know a man who did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a find.
Hi Simon
That is an amazing find, I showed it to Max last night and he was amazed, as a panel collector himself, he would like to know were you shop!!!!
Also we have not forgotten you! I will ask the guys again tommorow re-Scout parts, but the last few weeks home stuff has got in the way a little.
Happy new year, and drop in to see us again soon.
Best wishes,
Ritch and Max.
Kangaroo on Canberra.
The background is Red, and looks the same as on RAE aircraft, but is not Dayglo. The ” visit to Australia / Woomera” idea sounds good, so, does anyone remember a Canberra that was painted in RAE type livery that made such a trip?
The diameter of the structure makes me think this must be fuselage as apposed to tip tank, would the inside of the pressurised forward fuselage be sealed with this PRC compound, especialy if an airframe had a history of not holding pressure very well?
Just thoughts.
Please contact me!
Hi Annek
If you could send me an E-mail address, I have been out Woodhouse way this afternoon, and have a couple of contact addresses for local farms and I took a photo of the general area I can send if you wish.

News papers in the area.
Hi Annek
The two local newspapers to contact would be the Loughborough Echo and the Leicester Mercury, both still exist and have offices in the named towns.
Just a thought, there is an Army base at Woodhouse Eaves, it was called Garrats Hay, but has recently been re named and become an Army college. could the helicopter have been visiting there? the crash site is about 1 1/2 – 2 miles west of the base.
Keep digging.

Bruntingthorpe Auster’s
Thanks for the replies guys, I will chase up the Newark line of enquiry, thanks.
There were definatly 5 or 6 Austers involved, Nev has mentioned them a few times now, and my son Max, has the instrument panel from one of them!
We are active members of Nev Martin’s Phoenix Aviation Museum group, at Bruntingthorpe, which is still going strong.
Hi All
It’s actualy “Beacon Hill, Woodhouse Eaves”, Leicestershire.
If you find Woodhouse Eaves on Google earth, follow Beacon Road west from the village, it climbs past and to the south of Beacon Hill, which is a public country park. You will come to a cross roads with Benscliffe Road.
The crash happened to the south of Beacon road and the east of Benscliffe road, at the highest point, which is a ridge which runs approx NNW / SSE from Beacon Hill. You will be able to make out a carpark at the western end of Beacon Hill, the crash occurred a few hundred yards SSE of this across the other side of Beacon Road.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Ritch Blood.
Hey guys, Max Blood here.
I got a Meteor T-7 backseater main instrument panel 😀
Plus a set of stock instruments to go with it.. nmakes the restoration a lil easier.
It’s one of the 1946 un-modified ones too, so its rare 😉
Thanks.
Roborat, thanks for the information, it is all very helpfull, and best of luck in locating and re-purchasing you aircraft.
Avrobaby67, thanks for the help, we actualy know this aircraft and it’s owner, they were both pressent at Cockpitfest 2007. A fine aircraft and a great guy who own’s it.
Re Bruntingthorpe
Make that 2 Jet Provost’s at Bruntingthorpe, both Mk.3A’s.
Hunter T-8 getting closer by the week, now has electrical power live, and some hydraulic’s, engine is also now in.
And on a smaller note! Bede BD-5B which we hope to run for fun!!!
Hunting’s
Hi Guy’s
pagen01, I think mackerel has answered the question, Hunting’s would only have come on board had the order been won. I also seem to remember seeing the NDN Firecracker at Farnbourough, but my memory isnt what it was, and there have been many airframes under the old bridge since then!
At the time, there seemed to be a drop off in third party maintenance, so Fields (Hunting’s) eventualy won and settled on the Jetstream 31/32 completion center contract, but that’s another story!!!

Hunting Firecracker.
Hi Guy’s
I was working as a newly qualified Airframe Fitter, for Field Aircraft Services (Hunting’s) at East Midlands Airport in the early 1980’s. We did this big presentation thing for this project, we had the prototype Firecracker and a couple of part built airframes in the hangar (I belive it was the ex Alidair hangar, but can’t be totaly sure), the presentation was basicaly that, if the RAF had picked the firecracker, a new assembly plant would have been built on the site now occupied by the main fraight terminal, to the west of the Maintenance area. There were plans up on display boards etc, and a load of dignitaries, from the local councils etc to lend support.
Hope this adds a little to the story.

Hi Guys
for undisputed craftmanship, Dave Collin’s Hornet cockpit recreation.
for total dedication, in all weathers, for year after year, the LPG QRA shed.
for just beeing brave enough to see it through, no matter what, Martin Garrat and his now Coventry based Viscount.
Runners up would be,
The Vulcan, a fantastic achivement, and a display of what can be done, both from an engineering but mostly from a funding point of view.
Barry James’s appirance on the Antiques Road Show! I wouldnt have missed it for the world.
But lastly, every single person who has turned up at anytime durring the last 12 months in attrocious weather, and done there bit, no matter how small, where would we be without you all.
Ritch and Max.
