I’ve been on this quest myself and drawn a blank. LAS advertise the bits but boy you really don’t want to know their prices! I’ve tried HM Sales at Stock and some of the other surplus dealers like Anchor Supplies but no-one seems to have the bits, or they just don’t know what to look for. UK Surplus (MOD disposal Agency) probably have pallet loads of them at Stafford, judging by the way everything is going out of service, but then again we both know how half this stuff just gets slung in the skip when a Squadron gets the axe! Good luck and if you find a load, buy them up and remember me! ๐Ÿ™‚

If I find a load Ill give you one, and a turner adapter — HA HA….
    Thanks anyway,

    Sorry, have to ask..

    What is a Turner Adapter?

    Moggy

    Hi Moggy,
Its used for charging up high pressure air or nitrogen systems. For example – oleo struts, emergency blow down bottles. The have interchangable gauges – 0-1000 psi the other 0-2,500psi or something like that there are also a number of different end adapters and blanks.
    Hope thats not to confusing.

    Cheers

Also, same trip, up at RAF Coningsby later in the week, we got to watch the engine run up on the blue photorecon Spitfire (5 bladed, Griffon powered) and we were holding our ears while we were in FRONT of it, can’t imagine how uncomfortable it must have been for the lads in back of it….incredibly loud…

    Mark

Its not to quiet when your sat in the ******* thing either.

About time ‘Sir’ was added to the front of his name

    Cheers

    Paul

A real gentleman, and a pleasure to talk to. I met him a few years ago when I worked for OFMCo, he insisted on using our christian names, and we, his. A most interesting and unassuming man.

“Sir” Alex Henshaw – most definately.

the “walkirye ride” would be the perfect soundtrack for such sight ๐Ÿ˜€

    Alex

What the pictures don’t show clearly is, they where doing a “run and break” with a, single point – underslung load”

    It was good to see…….

    A few more

Heres the last few for now. The photo shows the Cap 10 about to be blown around a bit. This was a good example of the man who thinks he knows best, ignoring the man with the experience of operating large helicopters with underslung loads. Seconds after I took that photo I realised DX tower had told the Jolly Green to land near the “H”, Its amazing how much notice people take of you when tell them to open their f*****g eyes and look whats happening. It was close.

Do they have any engines for it?

There should be a pair of merlin 500s (empty crankcases) and the props somewhere, along with the engine cowlings and all the outer wing sections and fairings. I should know I took the thing aprart in Spain. The reason it’s in so many pieces is, when we did the trial lifts to asertain the wieght and balance the German Helicopter crew kept telling us it was to heavy. The original plan was to lift it with only the props and outer wings removed. I’ve got some video of us pulling it apart somewhere. As to if they ever made there way back to DX who knows.

I think you know Dave that I meant a genuine luftwaffe scheme rather than the BOB film markings ๐Ÿ™‚ Painting this aircraft in it’s Battle of Britain film scheme would be pointless as it is the Imperial WAR Museum as opposed to Imperial FILM Museum ๐Ÿ˜‰ I for one am not against putting the Casa into the colours of a Heinkel but i was interested in what everyone else would think.

    Best Regards, Steve

Personaly, I would like to see it in Spanish markings.

Excellent. It’ll be nice to see a high-back flying again. Is it me, or do her prop blades seem to be at an extremely coarse pitch?

The prop blades and dome are set to course pitch on fitment thus allowing oil to bring the blades back into fine pitch on start up…
