Well, I’m not sure what you mean by “people like me” being the reason you don’t make aviation programs. You made a statement that the Spitfire passed over your heads at 50′. I said I did not believe your statement, based upon the visual evidence, and my experience as a warbird pilot who has made low passes.
But, as you seem to want to make this personal why don’t we just let the members of this forum decide. Below is a still frame from the video, with the prop disc “added” in the computer.
You be the judge…
It wasn’t 50′ I was with OFMC at the time and I remember the shoot well.
As Scooner was doing a lot of filming with OFMC at the time and i even helped him out when he filmed the rebuild of 434.
Going back to the old TFC photo what year do you think that was taken?
The bloke second from the end on the right he is still up there i think does a lot on their Hurricane bit of an odd ball if memory serves me correctly. 😀
Taken in 1991.
yes he is still up there !!
But I’m not, not very often anyway.
I remember visiting DX a while back, just after the Lancaster had been finished, and noticing that someone had driven something into the port tail fin – there was a most interesting scrunched patch about six inches long in the bottom of the lovely new paintwork. Jonathon, ‘oo was it? I think we should be told!
Adrian
The above happened when the Lanc was being moved, at the time I was working for one of the private owners and when we came out of 3 hanger the Lanc had been pushed into one of the big waste bins they had at the time in front of the tower (accidently I might add). most of the people involved still work at DX, I’m sure if you ask around they will let you know who it was, I really couldn’t let you have the names, my arms could be twisted perhaps ?????????????? :diablo:
Nice pics mate.
Do you have any of the Sea Fury at NWeald in ’93? Or the ground crew? Or their cleaning equipment?
I may be able to send some via PM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have prefered the big Rover that came along later….
I’d grown up by then, that motor was tuned to f*#k, I loved it.
you’d have killed your self in it – He He He He !!!!!!!!!
Not sure, but I could swear he tried to flog me a rag top Escort once upon a time!!!!!
Did I have one of those, b—-y hell. That must have been in my sad phase !!!!

Sorry, all I have is the memory, a great view – wonderfull !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi YakRider.
Good to hear you’re OK.
Its right what you say, aeroplanes can be fixed. Sorry to hear about the zoom suit, A&E did the same to me last year, only they cut off £750 worth of racing leathers and £350 worth of crash helmet. But like you say, still around to talk about it.
Well done again.
Steve
Blimey, that brings back some memories. Any idea what year?
Sad to see the number of faces no longer with us. 🙁
I think it was 1990/91.
Yes it is sad, Colin, Peter Rix, Elsie.

For those of you who remember the fighter collection from years ago, see who you can recognise in the second picture.
The Fury is pure self indulgence, I was lucky enough to fly in it with John Beattie in 1989 I think.
See ya
Did’nt you have a run in with some bad feet on this trip??
Bad feet – It was OK after I chucked his barking shoes out of the window and told a certain person to wash his f*&$%£g feet.
Ha Ha happy days………
Hi Chris.
Don’t worry about the trivia mechanics, carry on doing what you do.
You’ll always find some drongo who doesn’t like what you say, do etc, treat with the contempt they deserve. I’ve done your job, been on the “Flight” keep the posts coming, it reminds me of good times. F*+k the idiots.
Pass on my regards to the boys, have a good new year.
Steve
