Russian paranoia…
After WW2 Norway and many other small countries willingly entered NATO since it was realized that small countries cannot stand alone.
Western Europe definitely preferred the US and NATO to the USSR.
Also Eastern Europe preferred EU and NATO to Russia after the war fell.
Each country decided by themselves.
Why did Russia not want to become part of NATO, and integrate more with Europe? Perhaps integration with Europe would be difficult because Europe prefers more democracy and less corruption, which is perhaps the opposite of what some Russian leaders prefer?
There are transfer payments from West to East EU involved. For that wealth creation in western part to carry the burden very generous labor and open market to foreign money in west. It’s corruption on very different scale.
Russia will not enter into alliance of bankrupt countries that inhibit it’s own power.
Oh dear! What’s next? Istanbul is renamed “Czargrad”?!
No Paralay, Turkey wont loose the “Black Sea Straits” for the foreaseable future, the chances of that happening are zero, nill, niente, Nada. And the idea that the USA “ocupied” Western Europe are borderline ridiculous.
Turkey will surely lose black Sea if they did any thing stupid. and it’s Russia own interest to close down entrance so that no oil supply from Arab world reaches Turkey and Europe at lower cost. I am sure those Egyptian generals will want to collect higher premiums.
Those delays not good for boeing reputation as Saudis are not tight fisted customer like India. They expect product on time.
why 14 only? Wiki says 26.
How much round the clock support could you get out of only 14 jets, lets say a week into the fight given serviceability and other issues?
14 on deck. Below capacity more. It suffice to assume sortie rates will be higher than French carrier of this size.
The N-Tejas is a cheap option that can be built in numbers, provide attrition replacements as well as carry out shore defence duties. So its an obvious choice. But they’ll still need something at the higher end and the MiG-29K simply won’t cut it. You probably won’t like this bit, but given the ski-jump requirement, at some point the IN will have to order the F-35B, if its to provide a battle group (comprising of upto $10 bn in naval assets), with effective air cover in an increasingly lethal threat environment.
how do you know N-Tejas is cheap. has it ever flown with loads from carrier. in 2035 stealth will be obsolete against those era radars. so its pointless.
Crazy conspiracy???! How the hell did you get those two words from my sentences. Where is the conspiracy? Where is the crazy hypothesis? Haven’t you ever heard about Lockerbie and Lydia’s bloody ruler?
I would suggest you calm down and stop insulting other that tries to feed the debate with a reasonable explanation of what could have happened.
hehe who brough donald duck in power.

“Some actors appear intent on eroding these principles and undercutting the international order that helps enforce them… Of course, neither Russia nor China can overturn that order. But both present different challenges for it,” Carter said.
this all huff and puff about order that no longer exist. Middleast/EU future is poor/debt and islamic. it can no longer support the kind of Coalition wars that US expect them. .

As European capital wanes in Turkey, Middle Eastern investors step in
“I do not worry about learning Turkish,” he told Middle East Eye with a grin. “I think the Turks will learn Arabic.” –
Europeans and Russians, once the largest investors in real estate, are now fearful of a declining economy, and are selling, said Vardar. –
Russia will be very to snatch Odessa and some other parts from Ukraine very easily in few years time.
What does 9/11 have to do with this? Terror and bloody retaliation have always been part of a certain kind of Middle-east autocrats. Assad is one of them and remain famous by his cautious application of the Ahma rule.
Putin foreign affair team had just changed their vocabulary around Assad standing in power. There is a convergence here. It is then legitimate to put the question in the debate.Daesh didn’t attempt such action before despite, as it seems to be today, the lack of rigorous security in Egyptian airports, a country where they are present since long now.
So please, leave the tin hat aside and try to discuss the matter with plain logics.
your confusing alot of things. Russia didnot blame isis for the plane crash neither it has changed vocabulary around assad. look harder at statements.
If it is determined to be a bomb then since ISIS claimed responsibility then yes Russia will deploy ground forces and kill a LOT of people in Syria.
I dont think Syria deployment will change that much. If Egyptian government realize that are going to losing tourist revenuse big time. they may cooperate with Russia on Yemen to put final nail into Suadi coffin. Most of IL-76 flights goes through Egypt to Yemen.
Egyptians are not stupid. There interests does not coincide with Saudi when oil prices are going to stay low.

Egypt can’t rely on cash-strapped Saudi Arabia
Look at where the force structures were before Typhoon, and where they are today.
They are still producing Typhoons with obsolete mechanically scanned radars and only a minimal multi-role capability.
Lets be honest, Typhoon has been disastrous for Europe. If they had simply purchased F-16 Block 60s or similar way back in 2000 they would be far more capable today.
Typhoon is very minor and insignificant part of EU expenditure. there whole host of other reasons that make it expensive relative to F-16 but thats not the issue. have you looked at US force structure despite overspending on military. The smallest army, airforce and navy with so expensive force structure/logistics (most of stuff has to be flown from continental US) that is simply unable to fight two wars at same time. infact US simply not able to put the same force that it put in Iraq in 2006 despite much larger population.
first thing is to bring those vacationers back from Egypt. than escalate it in such way that people will forget about Syria.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/617664/Vladimir-Putin-Russia-war-Libya-Yemen
VLADIMIR PUTIN has issued his strongest warning yet of fresh military interventions in the Middle East, with lawless Libya and war-torn Yemen in the Kremlin’s crosshairs.
Simple & perfectly valid rule: continuing with an unpleasant status quo, accepted as legitimate by a large proportion (possibly a majority, except in Bahrain) of the citizenry because it’s been the rule for a very long time, they’re used to it, & it fits their ideas of state legitimacy, is far less wicked than imposing the same regime where there was previously something better & no history which would legitimise it.
Or do you think that leaving the Saudi system in place is equal to forcibly imposing it on your homeland?
Note that the Saudi state has internal opponents who wish to set up something worse, along the lines of Daesh, with the reintroduction of slavery, etc., & who’ve tried starting armed rebellions.
some thing legimate 70 years ago for 3m population is not legimate for 30m population. even Obama understand it.
http://time.com/3856502/gulf-summit-saudi-arabia/
The icing on the cake may be Obama’s intention to lecture the heads of state (or their designees) on reform. In an interview with the New York Times he asserted that the Saudis and other allies should note threats from within
infact if external force help Houthis on same scale as Syrian opposition. you wont be talking about legitmacy.
once the oil regions are detached from them. the wont have any legitmacy to pay for salaries/ import food/export wars.

Irak is doing that . Turkey is using F-16. Saudi is premptively doing it in Yemen. Egypt is doing it. Israel is doing it.

Survivors said they suffered an “aerial attack” after stopping for a meal, according to Mexican Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu. She could only confirm that two Mexican nationals had been killed.
it is just the share quantity against syria on different scale. use of airpower in Middleast is a norm not an exception.
They’ve never been democratic. Syria was at least semi-democratic for a short while. And Assad has been both spectacularly brutal & incompetently so. He has neither the limited legitimacy of a long-established traditional system of government, or of someone who runs the country well.
he is the most competent ruler middleast has ever produced. he certainly does not have big quantity of oil to create world class interior ministry troops in class of SAANG. the place he control are far more culturally acceptable and relatively safe from random attacks.
look at the 800 comments. this example of incompetence despite getting hundreds of billions.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3305011/Security-staff-played-Candy-Crush-smoked-cigarettes-SLEPT-duty-British-tourists-reveal-shock-lax-airport-safety-Sharm.html
Assad initially faced unarmed opposition, & used weapons against it. That left armed opposition as the only option.
He took cue from Libya that there is islamic mob inside the so called peacefull protest.
(Chief of the Russian Air Force Viktor Bondarev, ‘Unlike the Americans, we are really hitting ISIL’)
Obviously talking nonsense.
Obviously he is talking sense.
I don’t think there is any real evluation of the russian bombing in Syria in the last few weeks? Does anyone know how effective RuAF bombing has been?
Although I guess the fact that the non-government forces including ISIS haven’t taken Damascus yet is possibly one real result of the Russian bombing – who knows…
it is very easy to evaluate. just look around arabic press and how the King of Saudi is behaving.
http://saudigazette.com.sa/saudi-arabia/king-receives-pakistan-army-chief/
first success is Irak recovered more area in one month than in whole year. Iraki wants that Russia bomb there country. even Yemen will ask that be bombed to get rid of terrosits.
intensity and accuracy of strike in syria is such terrosits are either dead or fleeing to countries from where they came.
