I beg of you, piiillleaaassseee stop talking about economics. Every time you quote some absurd theory of yours a baby dies of stupidity. France and UK have service economies with well established, government supported industries. The reason they have currency value and people are willing to invest is because the fundamentals are solid, and they pay on the bonds they issue, unlike un-named nations with currency issues.
they can only pay it by creating new debt to pay old debt that’s why debt to gdp of France/UK is always on increase and industrial skills are progressively decreased. so the time will come that they will reach Japan level of debt without internal savings and industries. so how they can afford anything.
** By 2030, Brazil’s GDP will be on par with France and the UK. Before 2050, it will become the fourth largest economy in the world, with annual military budgets comfortable exceeding those of Fr/UK even if Brazil’s commitment remains at ~1.5% of GDP vs. >2% for those nations.
Brazil has bogus GDP. Entire GDP was created around China and Iron Ore. Now China is looking at other places.

Brazil’s Real Falls Most in Three Years on Record Budget Deficit

Fr/UK will become de industrialized countries. but investors still store money in there banks so currency value and GDP is maintained.
Oh dear. I’m afraid you’re flaunting your ignorance.
The USA has 30 times the population of Greece, producing twice as much per head. That gives the USA 60 times the raw ability to generate wealth. Quoting absolute numbers for gross debt (which don’t take account of countervailing assets) without taking any of that into account is, as FBW says, embarrassing for those of us who see the magnitude of your error. We feel for you, even though you know not what you do.
I suggest you keep out of discussions of economics, for your own sake.
US has hundreds times population of Greece. US multinationals can use labor from EU/Asia to increase profits and make better products. plus capital surplus countries park there investments in US. which Greece has no chance. there is not even a contest.
I am becoming increasingly concerned at trends in Russian military projects and spending. The need to recapitalise degraded assets is urgent and a flurry of activity and spending over the 2010-2025 period in particular is to be expected, yet consideration must also be given to long-term sustainability of both forces and industry in the context of national finances. And when one looks at the list of programs that are known or suspected to be active, I’m not sure this is happening. Even as new capabilities such as unmanned systems are (rightly) receiving considerable attention and funding, and expansion of certain existing capabilities (e.g. carriers) is plotted, there is little evidence of a readiness to sacrifice or consolidate existing capabilities.
It could be that my concerns in this regard are misplaced. After all, it is only natural that many projects be considered for the few that are given the go-ahead and ultimately enter service. I am voicing these concerns because I do not wish to see a militarised Russia unable to invest appropriately in the welfare of her people and the broader development of the nation, or to see Russian forces and industry projects starved of resources, abandoned, etc. as a result of insufficient care taken to ensure a sustainable spending path.
Russia need to spend more on defense. more defense spending means higher production rate and diversified industrial complex that lower prices for export, quick delivery and training.
EU weopons are expensive due to low production, slow delivery so they cant take any market share.

Yeah, by who or when was the thrust of RD-93 increased to no less than 10 tons, when the CURRENT russian standard RD-33MK is rated at 9 tons and the improved MKM is said to be 9.5 tons ? I could have sort-of bought that the RD-93 as delivered to China would be some improved version based on MK and rated at 9 tons, but TEN? I don’t think do. It may well be that the chinese WS-13 might go to 10 tons, but as far as one can make out, the series production of this engine has not even started yet.
Also, as i understand it there is NO BVR missile operational for the JF-17s produced so far (as stated SD-10A is still in testing/ integration), some pakistani sources allege that the earlier SD-10 have been integrated, but i think this statement is rather fishy (anyone seen a JF-17 on QRA with SD-10?). I guess there’s some salt grains to be taken in regards to certain statements coming from the pakistani side…
Russia manufacturer always understate specification. I don’t think aircraft as heavy as MIG-29K (24.5ton MTOW, much wider and draggier than Rafale) can achieve performance with only 9 ton engine. it is similar case with bar radar in past.
I’m sure it did. Big mistake.
KC-390 is failed project from the start. Brazil neither has the budget nor exports to sustain the production that is dependent more than 90% on US/EU components.

The real dropped 1.8 percent to 2.4278 per U.S. dollar at the close of trade in Sao Paulo, the worst performance among 24 developing-nation currencies tracked by Bloomberg. It extended its decline this month to 7.9 percent, which would be the biggest loss since September 2011.
MTA has solid foundation based on IL-476/MS-21 supply chain.
Well, it was either that, let them perform or sell them a couple of Mistral Class Carriers despite Russia’s Human Rights Violations naughtiness and their other shenanigans in the Crimea.
Actually French are very honest in there approach. Every one knows about French standards. it is countries like Switzerland/Germany that’s the problem.
Qatar importance is further increased as 80% of its LNG is consumed by Japan/SK etc. Asia cannot live without Qatar gas and this will remain atleast next 10 years.
The way I see it (and perhaps this isn’t something which translates outside of the US) is this:
Since the turn of the century the US has become a country which is associated with regime change. Rightly or wrongly the whole WMD thing has been used to paint US foreign policy as a sham. There may well have been very good reasons for getting rid of Saddam but it was done very clumsily and left a bad taste in the mouth of your (America’s) closest allies as well as your adversaries.
You guys might see it as a lack of foreign policy, but I would suggest a canny approach is much more credible than one which see US bombers and troops killing innocent muslims again – that just feeds the opposition.
Now, nobody likes ISIS/ISIL/IS and so killing them is not a problem, but doing it in a way which allows the region to take responsibility for what follows is the key. The US (and UK) is damned either way, but wholesale military intervention without regard to borders or national pride/allegiances will only back fire. If the US can gain kudos from a humanitarian situation then that might help to undermine the opposition to US intervention which has grown from the Bush administrations foreign policy.
Its the lack of regime change and punishment for Saudi Arabia despite 15 of there people in 9/11 that create credibility problem.
Bush dance and asking for more oil.

For what it’s worth I am of the belief that a cruise missile strike in the early stages of the conflict in Syria would have allowed a more moderate opposition traction. As it was, the Russians and Chinese played the regime change card, support for action (as in Libya) dried up, and nothing was done.
there is nothing moderate opposition. The mistake made was the Russian did not forcefully came to Syrian aid early on. and that includes purging Syrian military from disloyal forces.
Nope, long and painful process…
implementation will be even more painful process. considering the poor record of French.
No I’m sure they’re not. I was implying that precision had gone out the window that is all.
The West goes to great lengths to develop precision munitions and still gets into a mess fighting in urban centres, whilst the Russians (and those who follow their approach to things) look for cost effective ways to remove the urban centres.
Sorry if that is glib.
Iraq is also buying lots of helicopters. that is as precise weopons as you can get for picking individual targets.
Nato simply run out of precision in only 4 million country Libya. and it still did not prevent failed state.
TOS-1A just one of visible export item and it maybe needed at some places. it is the invisible training and intelligence that matters.
#1. Drones don’t get wary and they are controlled by a crew, which is larger than a simple team.
Larger crew means more expensive to operate.
#2. UAV are cheap, which is why design and IOC are in such short cycles relative to manned platforms.
UAV are not cheap. they not carry much and cannot pull high gs. so airframe is designed for longer airframe hours but without loaded agility of fighter
#3. UAV are disposable by design, their entire life is measured in hours not years.
disposable means its even more expensive to built.
Where are those allies? Actually, which states were allied to Russia and supportive of it’s regional aims at the time of the initial Syrian uprising (as opposed to being slightly more open to Russia now)?
Note, I’m not saying it’s wrong for Russia to have interests in the region or to seek to protect as such, they have been doing so for over 100 years.
Saudi and Israel are also good allies of Russia. Saudi keeps Oil price higher that keep countries like Japan bankrupt and light up fires around the world like Somalia.
Israel sold UAV license. and have very constraining influence on West. Turkey a Nato country is very much discredited by Israel.
Turkey will have no practical role in Black Sea. its only role is to increase business with Russia.
swerve-
Please never mention Obama’s lot and credibility in the same sentence. .
he is comparing Obama with Bush. Bush has real credibility as he actually believed in Iraq surge. Obama did not believe in it and still ok it. Libya was another example. This only shows swerve long winding replies have limited understanding.
Source is the UN’s World Population Prospects, 2012 ed. Go nuts.
I am not sure why you are even reading this population forecast from UN. Can they forecast rain fall, agriculture, temperatures ( airconditioning extremely negative impact on environment), dysfunctional growth of cities, under water resources and wars etc.
with in two months IMF is saying different thing about Ukraine. These organizations are simply not capable of forecasting 50 years.
