    M2K does not have three times life. both M2K and MIG-29 will practically retire at same time. with weopons/ upgrade of M2K costing 3 times.
    MIG-29UPG does not have have less capability. it has IRST for silent attack and much longer range RVV-SD.
    there is no evidence of Meteor with M2K upgrades.

    they inducted larger number of MIG-29A at fractional price of M2K.
    it does not give any evidence of single engine has lower life cycle cost compared to twin engine in same airforce.
    now MIG is producing more high quality MIG-29K/35.

    There are 4 engine bombers.
    This is not minor statistical difference between 1 and 2 engines one you look over 40 year life cycle cost. plus excess power allow twin engine fighter to release weopons from further height and speed. give it big advantage. I highly doubt bomb and fuel tank loaded single engine fighter can even cross Mach 1. while some twin fighters can go all the way to Mach 2 for weopon release. Kh-31XX is released upto Mach 1.5 speeds.
    single engine is only good if price is cheap like F-16A or JAS39A.

    surely you have all the real life cycle cost data and aircraft airframe/engines/system behavior with real loads on long term.
    and all the useful ness of long range sensors/ range/weopon flexibility/jamming pods that give pilot better options.

    MIG-31 built in 1980s have far better safety record than MIG-21 built in 1980s despite MIG-31 providing more long range missions.
    similar case with Su-27 built in mid 1980s to F-16.

    India has to buy 10 M2KH to restore its fleet. and upgrading M2K cost almost as new MIG-29K. I will not even recommend a single engine advanced trainer let alone a fighter.
    Single engine is definitely more expensive than twin engine for life cycle cost.

    Elsewhere there are reports of heavy ground battles with tanks fighting on both sides. I think it is pretty clear Putin is getting a lot more fight from the Ukrainians than he expected.

    He was not only expecting more fighting but more economic burden of essentially 40 years of economic neglect in Ukraine. that’s why he did not want to invade at first place.

    Lifetime cost costs of e.g. Su-35 aircraft would be higher (twin-engine costs compared to single engine and lower life of engines)….not saying Su-35 not a good choice but would not be popular with the Saudis ;- )

    life time costs of twin engine fighters are usually lot lower than single engine fighter. twin engine fighters have surplus power.
    Airframe/engines are not stressed out to same extent with external loads/fuel tanks. they are less prone to crashes, can maintain combat air petrol over great distance without wasting fuel on too many takesoff and landings, flexibility of weopons in same mission.

    iPhone and UCAV has huge difference in manufacturing quality. Ukraine helicopters are practically outdated with poor training. Iraq is flat ground. the lower and faster you go the better. what you see in Iraq is failure of UCAV policy. this is the result of not using heavy armor and heavy choppers for decade than pick pricks of UAV.

    the question is it really $1m?. second how reliable is for long operations. like daily multiple sorties. since it has very small payload of short range missile. it is not a cost effective solution at all when dealing with manpower intensive spreading insurgency where multiple of multiple targets need to be engaged with cheapest ammunition in single sortie.

    there is no evidence of operational savings with UCAV when consider operational structure needed and low payload capacity. Maintaince and Pilots of transport and attack helicopter pilots can be shared.

    UAV does not have guns and rockets and payload is far less. that $1m Chinese UAV may not carry anything at all and will be prone to crashes.

    A typical nonsense claim. To reach the maximum range a Su-27SM has to be operated like an airliner. Stick to subsonic speed at optimum cruise height and no AB for climb or accelleration to go there and all external loads released ~half way out. For advertisement purpose some corner values are published, but no more than a single one can be reached in the same mission in general. Alone going into the transonic speed range for a brief moment comes along with a range penalty. The PAK-FA or F-22A in mind to do a supercruise is limited to a few minutes to have some endurance at least.

    so. any other fighter will have more limitations. Flanker is best among supersonic range. and you can hardly consider it few minutes. T-50 supersonic range is 1500km.

    you should not quote your flight manuals in 2014 or any time. flight manuals are very basic prototype data that has nothing to do with operational aircraft. I will not even go by website information either as they are mostly related to export fighters.
    Su-27SM key thing is transforming weopon load from 4.4ton to 8tons and life extensions.and replacing all the flight characteristics/electronics. creating glass cockpit.
    uprated engines were also certified on this platform. you can see difference in internal fuel, extended range, weopon load in play card.
    The export Su-27SKM basic specification were published which are inferior.

    it was declared superior to all export Flankers by Ruaf. you have to wonder about J-11 license from a decade ago and experience gain from that manufacturing process.
    Sukhoi simply did not provide that knowledge to India either. Su-30K of IAF could not be transform into Strike fighters or life extension without Sukhoi. consider IAF depleting fleet and crash prone MIG-21/M2K from that era.

    F-15C never designed for getting new FBW/heavier uprated engines or transforming into strike fighter. it will simply develops cracks and life expectancy will be reduced.

    You have to be kidding me. Even with the same fuel load, the Su-27 has a loaded weight of 24,260 kg, which would give a T/W of 1.031. But with that fuel load the Su-27’s range won’t match the F-15’s, since the AL-31’s specific fuel consumption is higher than even the F100-PW-229, which is thirstier than the -100 and -220.

    Also, I’m pretty sure the Su-27SM is heavier than the Su-27S. Hell, I think even the F-15C with AESA is heavier than the ones with mechanical radars.

    Su-27SK has 3530km range with 6 AIM-120 load out on 9400kg internal fuel. Show me any other aircraft in the world that is as efficient with same load out?. Either SU-27SK is lighter than your suggested weight or AL-31 is more efficient.

    from where you get Su-27SM heavier than Su-27S?.
    there is display board from 2005. There are 10 weopon stations in picture. I am sure now avionics are even more lighter compared to 2005. fundamentally Flanker is very light weight platform for its size.

    JSR, what the hell are you talking about?

    F-15C has 14,370 kg empty weight, and 2*105.7 kN thrust. It’s loaded weight is 21,090 kg with full fuel and 4 AMRAAMs. This gives a T/W of 1.022. Su-27 has 16,380 kg empty weight, and 2*122.5 kN thrust. It’s weight with full fuel and no missiles is 25,780 kg. This is a T/W of 0.970. So no, the claim that the Su-27 has the best T/W is untrue.

    T-50 is not all composite. It’s a mix of composite and traditional aircraft materials like titanium and aluminum. In fact, I think the stated goal for composites in T-50 is something like 25% of structural weight and 70% of outer surface.

    your comparing unequal fuel levels and Su-27SK has IRST and much heavier soviet avionics. Su-27SK carries 9400kg fuel for 3530km range with 2 R73/ 2 R27.
    2 R27 weight is almost 4 AIM-120.

    Su-27SK easily transform into strike aircraft like Su-27SM with digital fbw, light weight avionics, more powerful engines etc. so it means airframe was designed from ground up for larger loads on weopon stations.

    The same thing could be done with the Tejas as well. At a fifth of the cost.

    you know Tejas real cost that claiming fifth. it occupies very expensive real estate that is not producing anything. that is called lost opportunity cost. there are a lot of fixed overhead cost.
    count this claim time from decembeer 2012. deadline is 2015 at max for first 20 Tejas.
