what this has anything to do with issue.
EMB-195 is larger than EMB-145 but it is not wide enough for the role to acommodate much more enhanced AWACS system and crew.
It simply cant compete B737 MESMA.

EMB-195 inside width & range is even less than Sukhoi Superjet. and Superjet is creating business jet with 8000km range. so that is more suitable for enhanced AWACS.

KC-390 is too soon to develop Tanker/AWACS platforms. There is more chance of it being failure as Embarer has abandoned segment of competing against B737/A320. what confidence there will be even heavier and more complex transport.

The Plane seems to be narrow. so it may not offer that much interior equipment space.

r the amounts of LCA project includes all the subsystems. I dont see Kaveri development cost. and I highly doubt it includes more that $1b or so various GE engines ordered.

Facebook $100b valuation depends on advertizement revenue that will suck money from other sectors of economy. It cannot export to earn hard currency or critical resource.

Putin didnot sent Krgyzstan Yakhont or Aircraft carrier. Quite amount of gas is needed to send carrier half way around the world.

Russia benefited atleast $150b from Libyan crises in one year. Thats why it got budget surplus. It is the mulitplier effect of Ural rise above the Brent and its impact on various metals and food prices. High Oil prices make Shipping Coal, Ore and wheat export from Australlia/US/Brazil less competitive to China/ME. Arabs dont drink vodka but they have to buy imported food and metals.
I am not even going into indirect impact like outflow of manufacturing due to high energy in EU.
I dont see how few billion of arms contract that will take couple of years to realize as any loss. as more exports means less arms for Russian armed forces at lower today prices rather than higher tommorrow prices.

Fly away price of EF for 60 aircraft is $115M. not including mission equipmnent and infrastructure. I If they cannot fund 4 generation off the shelf purchase. there is little confidence they will fund 5G.

it’s been stated before that todays assembly chain is tailored for a rate of about 30 aircraft per year, and as the french state is pretty much broke, it is them who aorder the minimum number of aircraft per year in order to keep it viable for dassault while sepnding as little as possible.

if they could, they’d order even less for a couple of years. now, put an indian order into that and you get a possibility to produce around 40 fighters more in 2 years without any change in french deliveries, and up to 60 “exports” if the french state pauses its deliveries for a couple of years (most french policians would love that, as it would free some cash for other projects)

of course you don’t accelerate the production overnight, but if the agreement is sogned in, say, april (just an example, nobody can say when it will be ,signed for good), they’d probably ask for the first delivery somewhere in 2013-2014, which would leave dassault and its subcontractors to reorganize a bit and be ready to produce at the rate that India needs. what would need to be developed is India’s production (assembly) capability, of course…

Your assuming that IAF wants the same standard Rafale as current production.
This Rafale will need new communication and EW suite specifically tailored. AESA radar need to be debugged for couple of year service. Weopons like Meteor need to certified. In may require Glonass guidance.
The first 18 maybe basic versions but next 22 need to be fully developed. I am excluding new 9T engine for now. You cannot use so low power engine for next 40 years. as new electronic capabilities will require more power.

I dont think Su-30 production is going to end in 2017.
what will happen in reality that Rafale is super expensie and complex so the induction will be even slower than BAE Hawk/Su-30. same thing will happen with LCA-MK2. So nothing else Su-30 will be continued to be built.
without substational investments i failed to see how Dassault can produce extra 40 Rafale in next 4 years. BAE with EF and Boeing with F-18E cannot do it for new customer.
First 40 will not be delivered before 2020.

Deutsche Bank estimates the value of the MMRCA deal to be worth between $15-$20bn, and it expects Dassault (as the core manufacture)to reap around 60% of the total value (this figure excludes Thales’ & Safran’s profit- but they should benefit too). So pousser des hourras!!

$20b is understatement to put it mildly.
F-18E for Australlia is $6B for 24 planes and 10 year support.and those are 2006 prices. add 40% inflation for 2012.

Rafale can never have F-18E production run.
Real cost will be closer to $60B for 10 year licensing, manufacturing, training and weopons.

Swerve, I don’t know who your sources are, but my understanding is Russia and India are set to move up from 9th and 10th respectively, with Italy at 8th in their sights. The CEBR predicts that by 2020, the four Brics will be the 2nd (China), 4th (Russia), 5th (India) and 6th (Brazil) largest economies, with only the US (1st) and Japan (3rd) ahead. Obviously GDP per capita is a different story.

you can safely remove Japan from #3. Japan dont have 10 years for borrowing before it implodes.

I don’t deny this but Dassault needs further orders even in the short-term
to increase the capacity utilization in his plants until 2017 which is running at a very low level .Remember ,only 18 fighters will be produced in France ,the rest in India under licence and the whole procurement is spread over a period of 10 years starting 2015!
The same old problem with these licence productions, you sell technology, you sell know-how or even some components ,but your own qualified workforce don’t see much from the work.

This should not be problem. Dassault/Snecma suppose to get upfront fees for licensing & training to Indian workers. This will help it building further improved prototypes of Rafale. See Sukhoi example of licensing to India/China.
but if French state takes the lion share of TOT money than Rafale is doomed anyway.
but it is still better decision than dealing with EADS and the 4 countries.

No, No, they haven’t left :). Just because the “kill-mmrca” brigade is at its vocal peak doesn’t mean that the supporters have left, they are jittery because there has been no official news about the bids for the last 3 months (which is kind of very very weird).

There were people who are very passionate about it. They used to write very long paragraphs. India will not gain so much as it thinks.
It does not mean that aircrafts are not suitable (they may become unsuitable once you consider license manufacturing cost)
Whenever there is fight between big and small dog interms of money. EU always choses big dog. see Russia-Georgia fight at WTO.

EU put sanction on China but once China become little wealthy they practically put the same sanctions on Taiwan. EADS/Dassualt will not sell EF/Rafale to Taiwan. Chinese have bought Austrian composite manufacturer. They have the Airbus assembly line.

    http://www.russianavia.net/index.php#state=ReportDetail&id=76
Despite current low quality levels of Chinese manufactured titanium – a strong driver for Russian titanium on global markets – China is increasing its competitiveness in industrial titanium markets. Voevodin assesses that China will become a dangerous competitor in 2-3 years and will start production of aerospace titanium within 10 years.

EADS defence revenues will decrease with time as US squeezed them out of most of Asian/ME markets and surely most of Pentagon contracts as budgets got curtailed. I am not even going into defence cuts across Europe.

EADS only hope will be its Civillian business and here those who can supply the cheapest (Titanium/composites) & buy the most planes will have alot of influence over them.

India better prepare itself for un upgraded (or not so advanced) overpriced aircraft 10 years down the line.
you can see it from East Asia for those who are serious about defence like Vietnam or not serious like Thailand.

That won’t provide sufficient margin of superiority over Chinese ‘Flankers’ or PAF Block 50 F-16s. Typhoon does.

China is covered by strategic SAMs for more than two decade now. hence better training and experiance. I would not be surprized that density and effectiveness of SAMs on Chinese side will reach such level that India will not have the quantity of IRBM/ICBMs to successfully lob a nuke. the whole nuke deterrent of India will become questionable. They are already in Tibet.

In less than 10 years. PLAAF will be world largest airforce. with well over 2000 4th generation fighers. They are adding over 100 J-10/J-11/JH-7 a year.

There nothing preventing China from parking another 800 missiles near Indian border just like Taiwan in addition China has been lunching boat load of satellites so better survellence.
this MMRCA is draining Indian resources as each year ministry of defence thinking that had deal so better reserve funds for it and delay some thing else. but nothing happens. No wonder most of MMRCA supporters have left the forum.

Don’t go excusing America’s hypocrisy and vaccilation in response to the Arab Spring: they’re scum as well, and nobody is fooled by their ‘oh we supported ur freedomz all along’ turnabout. But aspiring to be universally reviled “just like the Americans” is, well, no aspiration at all. And given Russia’s existing tensions with Islamic radicals, it’s one that’s likely to backfire quite spectacularly.

I think you should first stick to your Brazil becoming world 3rd largest economy.
I dont see how this can backfire on Russia. as long as Russia keep investing in creating netcentric digital armed forces with good survellence capabilities. it will take some time to reach that capability.
Arab world is completely irrelevant. Even if all this Arab league band together and try to fight Russia. They will need weopons & training from west. and to buy those weopons & training they have raise price of Oil. or west has to print money to finance war which will cause inflation. There is no third way out.

you think the Russian military can keep absorbing the costs of undelivered orders?

Russian military can afford much more than Russian industry can produce. It is unique situation that government has more money to buy products than Industry & R&D timeline. Even if exports are completely stop for next 10 years. It will only make $100b difference.
