L3COM makes a nice digital datalink for upgraded Ravens. More expensive although.

It is the lack of intelligence from US part of what will work and what will not work and low technical standards of Ukranains wasting time on obsolete things. it means they have no idea what is advanced.

I don’t see how even ballistic missiles would be a problem. Certainly Russia isn’t asking the Poles for permission to base missiles along Poland’s borders.

They are either a sovereign state or they aren’t. If they are then they can base whatever SAM or SRBM system they want within their own territory.

Modern Poland is creation of Soviet Union and later funded by EU budgets and corporations. EU cant just throw money around like Saudi feed so many countries and take no responsibility of the actions of those countries.

Small power as compared to USA or China. But Russia is a gnome then.

China and US completely depended on Middleast that make there GDP and military power ineffective . If France hadn’t return that Mistral money back I am sure Russia would have to use greater force in Middleast to get even greater return of money back.
If Saudi or Iran attack (let alone Russia) Qatar the speed of Japan/Russia pipeline will accelerate. Russia GDP is created with computers and automated extraction and distribution of resources with minimum human interaction so that the high quality people work in government.

Well, they do have roughly twice Russia’s GDP…

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)

do they even have GDP?. low productivity, low education standards, debt,
business interest that are completely subservient to outside. decisions made for them elsewhere.

Boeing, Volga-Dnepr Group Confirm Acquisition of 20 747-8 Freighters to Grow, Upgrade Fleet
FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Volga-Dnepr Group, a leader in transportation of unique, outsize and heavy cargo, announced today at the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow finalization of terms for the acquisition of 20 747-8 Freighters, which includes four aircraft that have already been delivered

infact Aeroflot profits and service is growing at such pace that Putin can unload all new Russian made planes on them. they don’t want to create aviation industry that is dependend on Middleast. I am sure that Volga-Denpr group will be cargo service for Ruaf if they need more mobility.

Russia has real GDP the rest are all bogus.

Inflation is about 6℅ but real improvements are in worker productivity, robotics and energy prices to run factories are 1/3 of Europe. Than you can add lower housing, lower taxes and material costs. The price shouldn’t be that much different in rouble. Sukhoi Superjet even with 50℅ imported components still half the price of Embarer despite much lower production rate and newer technologies.

I can guess albeit it will trigger people like JSR, firstly India wants to use this contest to improve their Aerospace industry. With Mig-35 they learn nothing particularly new. Secondly the RD-33 is a real Achilles heal even it is latest variant, it has a far shorter MTBO than equivalent Western engine and you can’t shop around for support.

MIG35 has everything new with upgraded engines, TVC, composite materials in construction, 3D tiled AESA on larger nose, new electro optical systems, quad dfbw etc. MIG35 provide vast arsenal of cheaper PGMs and standoff missiles. The Grom family starts from MIG35.
newer RD33 has no problem with MTBO. the MIG29 recent record in IAF service is better than M2K.

These Gripen E/F-16 lack power supply, engine power and rotodome size to be effective in AESA operations. only stupid airforces will invest in them.

Finally as India realised replacing their huge number of Single engine Mig-21 and Mig-27 with twin engine Rafale was far more costly through life than they first considered.

The Rafale is a logical replacement for the Mig-29 and Jaguar in India service but a single engine type is a far better consideration for the rest.

Then again India is still hampering itself logistically with such a diverse fleet.

Personally I think the Mig-35 is a dead end and Mikoyan should focus on developing a single engine multi role stealth type utilising the same or similar engine as the T-50/PAK-FA and pulling through technology from the Mig-35 program like radar. There would be a solid market for a type like that.

There is no such thing as stealth, Supercruise, high altitude, long range with oversize engine in single engine fighter and still called it 5G.
MIG35 is the correct investment for keeping R33 engine line open for exports and maintaince, provide lower cost standoff missiles alternative to heavier fighters.

JSR, Why on earth are you quoting from a Sorcha Faal article? You do realize that Sorcha Faal is an internet hoaxer.

just because somewhere a website has conspiracy story does not even every story on that website is inaccurate.

Fast forward to 7:00 into this clip. https://audioboom.com/posts/5427112-indiana-hoenlein-the-lost-penny-of-hannukah-malcolm-hoenlein-conf_of_pres

Is it an unofficial source ? Yes.

Is Malcolm Hoenlein a Russophile ? No.

Is it likely that he completely fabricated this rumor , on the fly, for ominous reasons ? Doubtful.

you should not listen to non scientific talkingheads but look at scientific power of creating and replicating complex systems. Russia is already using Chinese components in bridges, shopping malls, space electronics, railway, pipelines and LNG. and I will be not surprised that some version of that world fastest supercomputer built in China use by Russia to rapidly design and develop robotics weopons and UAVs in much greater scale than one else.
its the superior skills that very accurately predict things even in shortest amount of time. such scale of computing and software power was never able even 10 years ago. so everything designed before are outdated.

Russia Confirms Supercomputer Findings Showing Donald Trump Landslide Victory
By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers
An interesting Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) report presented to the Security Council (SC) earlier today says that Lomonosov Moscow State University’s artificial intelligence (AI) genetic programming (GP) T-Platform supercomputer has confirmed the findings of Sanjiv Rai’s equally powerful AI supercomputer MogIA that US presidential candidate Donald Trump is poised to win the 8 November American election in a landslide. [Note: Some words and/or phrases appearing in quotes in this report are English language approximations of Russian words/phrases having no exact counterpart.]

both Turkey/Israel hasn’t been bombing with intensity ISSI/AQ for past couple of years and they haven’t publicly stand up to Saudis. they are technologically too backward of any use to Russia. Russia has overhelming force advantage/ fool proof missile defence system short of most advance ICBMs and real industrial capabilities to saturate with TBMs/Cruise missiles. even with Strike fighters of Ruaf can take big bigger combined load of Antiradiation/Antiship with full EW protection. This I was telling Andraxx for months that his TAF cant operate without Ruaf permission and now they are asking publicly for help. and Nutinyahoo every week make phone calls about deconflicting.

That’s never going to happen. Putin was oh so close to vetoing the settlements bill in the UN recently which would have really be a punch in the face for Obama.

Russia and Israel have a pragmatic relationship. The def min of Israel is friends with Putin

Russia was never going to veto that bill infact Russia was among the four European powers that push Egypt into it. Russia and Israel relationship cant be strategic unless Israel fully support Russia in US congress. I don’t see any utility of Turkey and Israel for Russia unless they are leaking some thing about western systems and training. there technology is no longer attractive to Russia.

JSR, be realistic. Russia, apart from oil gas and nukes, has become a dwarf power. Be it economically or military.

what about highly automated long range rocket artillery systems? fully functional glonass system.

Russian Army Gets First Batch of Brand New Tornado-S Rocket Artillery Systems
Tornado-S is a substantive upgrade to the Tornado. Most prominently, it features a new automated guidance and fire-control system allowing for the simultaneous automated coordination and control of the fire of an entire artillery battalion. The system is also capable of automatically calculating target data.

economics and military are functions of highly educated population with highly efficient governmental system that give confidence to third countries to do big things.

not a country that sent public appeals to Asian tourists after city robberies. offcourse they will need to fly over Russia. Europe will need to be completely ousted from Afrika and Middleast before war on terror can be success. That make Russia the only effective partner of US on war on terror.

You could have spent about 3 seconds to research that before posting. Stop embarrassing yourself.
SE has more thrust. Weight is lower.
Su-34 is more heavily configured as a striker, and RuAF did not go for higher thrust engines.

how do you know weight and drag of new built F-15 and its internal fuel capacity. to make an opinion.
drag means weopons and fuel carrying drag.
there is so much space under wings. high efficient design.

Well he’s right just by the numbers. Indian AF has hundreds of aircraft. But with sanctions lifted it will be interesting to see how much money Iran will want to spend.

Those export prices were negotiated through out the 1990s. they will not able to repeat this in 21st century. there is a lot of factors behind it.
just look at A330MRT refueller to A330AWACS to Embarer AEW to again A50I to complete failure of MRTA transport. it takes forever do simple things relative to 5G fighter. PAKFA is only true 5G fighter.

There is reason why Russia only need $1b to support 20,000 sorties and full fledged air and sea defence system in Syria. All other firms belong to bankrupt countries. They need at least $300b a year to have much less capability. Coalition in Irak is example. You simply don’t have understanding basics of costs .

It is a sad state of affairs, and I doubt Trump is going to be a boon to U.S.-Russian relations as many Russians are hoping.

It just show how much you know anything. Trump will diss the whole rest of the world if it is in his power to have relationship with Russia as he knows America can’t become great again without Russia. Just look at where Exxon and Chevron want to have there biggest projects. (Russia/Kazakhstan) where pipelines can actually be built to squeeze money from 1.3b Chinese and 600 million Europeans. I am sure he has data about condition of Mexico /Canada energy industry and US fracking, water resources and bank exposures. This is just one topic among many

My .02 cents on why we should probably get back to aviation issues.

It seem your two cents worth nothing

In terms of export, the Indian order is probably worth far more than all the rest put together (Algeria, Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia etc). In other markets, the PAK FA will be competing with the FC-31, if not the FC-20.

Why would be Indian order bigger than Iran or Algeria. ?remember India bought Su-30MKI at rock bottom prices at pre 2000 era prices. just look at how many attack choppers Irak quickly bought from Russia and compare with slow muddle procurement in India
I would put even Qatar there . They are willing to take risk of big investment in Russia
