Obviouslt the high bypass one. It is also more fuel economical
Tu-214R is a lot more efficient and high speed design than anything based on B737 which will need to be parked near to battlefield.
Plus Tu-214 comfort make it ideal for long range loitering of 12 to 14 hours on special mission aircraft. upgrade with PD-14 will make it 18 hours aircraft.
http://www.airlinereporter.com/2015/09/tu-214-transaero-business-class-flight/
Still, with how rock-steady a Tu-214 is when heavy at a cruising altitude of around 33,000 feet, one can easily get some rest. There’s no odd squirrelly motions and almost unusual attitudes you find on a light Tu-204-100.
Regardless of all that, Transaero is an amazing airline, and the Tu-214 is an amazing aircraft. The only thing I would change is to, maybe, add a toothbrush to the amenity kit. Everything else earns nothing but high praise
Su-30MKI is 10% heavier than Su-27 while F-16E is 50% heavier than F-16A.
You realize that Russian military budget is relatively big simply because they don’t take care of their own citizens? Rampant corruption and increase of HIV infections are something what RT very rarely speaks about. Do you live in Russia? I’d be surprised if you do.
I am sure you have statistics from hospital database about various diseases and the cleanliness of water supply and air/food quality. what is that airpollution rate.
Russia is becoming 100% independent aviation power
https://in.rbth.com/economics/2015/08/06/russia_to_stop_importing_aircraft_engines_44627
In the light of Western sanctions, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has suggested that Russia renounce future cooperation with foreign companies building aviation engines; not only in Ukraine, but also with the French Snecma on the Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) project.
Hehe can you sell superjets without french authorization? No! Engines etc are french…
Engines are 50% French but as soon as PD-14 family certified. I have no doubt France will be totally removed from Russian aviation chain. and that will include titanium supplies to Airbus.
http://rostec.ru/en/research/tecnology/4517828
The PD-14-based engine family will allow virtually all Russian airplanes to be equipped with modern power units: from the PD-7 for the short-haul Sukhoi Superjet 100 to the PD-18 which can be installed on the long haul Il-96
on other hand France will be for ever under US influence on nearly all its decision. I am not even going into US pressing Germany/Eastern EU against France or Middleast.
2017 budget : 41 billion euros.
its just paper numbers.
Oh, I’m sure some European countries would love to see Sweden stop its fighter production, but it’s more likely that EU, instead of croc-blocking things left and right, would stimulate the use of EU variants of the same products.
It’s not like the subsystems couldn’t be replaced by European counterparts, it’s just choices. Economical, political, co-operational, size, weight or whatnot.
There’s not that many new fighters being built at the moment in EU anyway and since Gripen seems to be a popular choice both around the globe, why wouldn’t they want to use the carrot instead of the stick?
Converting Gripen into EU based systems is too far fetched idea at this point.
JSR you are hilarious. In 2017, France defense budget will be ahead of russian one…
France does not have budget let alone claiming bigger. France can’t sell Airbus without US permission. You don’t own anything.
Gripen is made of majority of US/UK parts who are outside Eurozone. if EU is serious about developing its military capability it will simply cutoff funding for countries buying such products. its matter of survival for EU. the lack of military power has depreciated Euro from 1.5 to 1.05 to dollar in two years. otherwise at some point Middleastern investors will lose confidence in EU and currency will collapse.
Trump consider F-35 programme part of his political opponents. and if he really against One China policy he will have to cut down massively.
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/12/12/donald-trump-cost-of-f-35-program-out-of-control/
how is Gripen going to survive when EU will be imposing strict European solutions for defense and that will include funding cuts to countries that donot support EU defence industries.

that is not in the news.

Spain questions Israel over helicopter drone gift to Russia
It was made by Spanish company Alpha Unmanned Systems.
Spanish media reports said it had US-made cameras, installed by Israel after it was acquired from Spain.
What is your source for the range of the RBE2 AESA?
The -79 is larger, so if they have the same tech level it should have a longer range, but we don’t really know about their performance so this is at the end of the day all speculation, from both of you…
Rafale also have 7.5 tons engine. more comparable with F16E not F18E.
I am quite aware of all that, there are severall other projects that also worth mention, the Concorde and the Harrier in terms of technology “enablers”, the Mirage line, the Hawker Hunter, the BAE Hawk, the Fokker 100, etc. But for all their past history, Airbus vastly “out everything” the sum of its old parts. Untill Airbus the most sucessful European Jet airliner was the Sud Aviation Caravelle, 282 built, then we have the BAC 1-11, 244 built, the Fokker 100, 244 built, etc.
It was only when the Europeans pooled their resources that they could challenge the Americans, exactly the same happened with Helicopters (MBB and Aersopatiale by one side, Westland and Agusta by the other), PGM´s with MBDA, regional aircrafts with ATR, etc.
Airbus can’t be sold without US permission. Products are now complex. Final assembly give illusion of ownership and control.
So probably not cancelled…
cancellation was out of question as too much money/time and technical manpower invested in F-15 but there were rumblings of getting Rafale or they better off waiting for 5G plane.
If all TuAF fleet is active, then pilot fatigue will reduce numbers to 170 aircraft after a first few hours.. Assuming whole SyAAF survive the initial few sorties, even remaining 170 aircraft still 3-folds the number of all other 4th gen aircraft in Syria (~4 Su-35, ~4 Su-30SM, ~8 Su-33, ~6 Su-34 + less than 34 MiG-29B.)
what about MIG-29KR in numbers and its multiple racks?. One Su-35 can be loaded with 12AAM and 2 EW pods with 4.5 hrs loitering time. Su-30SM 10AAM and 2 EW Pods. the quantity of AAMs and self protection is beyond the number that Tuaf can master in single takeoff. Infact there are barely 2 F-16s flying a time.
on top of that several hundreds SAM missiles of various ranges in that locality alone.
Actually if you judge it this way, best fighters in Syria by far is the ISIS, and they did it without any support of military kind. I don’t think this is a logical way to indicate fighting capabilities by the way, but here you are…
ISIS does not need military support as the Persian gulf paid for them to revolt the sunni population. now that money is drying up due to low oil prices and expensive western weopons. on other hand new pods for Su-34 will get same capability as Tu-214R. newer UAVs and high speed data transfer will enable very rapid fire response. that is the most efficient way of managing multiple battlefield.
