:highly_amused: Or maybe the one in-flight refuel is how it reaches 5,400km.

Its the draggier twin seat version from Irkut.
The Knaapo su-30mk2 version has 5600km range on one refuel.

    http://www.knaapo.ru/products/su-30mk2/

Su-35 has 6500km one one refuel and Su-34 7000km on refuel based on unofficial figures. There shouldn’t be any doubt that single seat Su-35 will exceed twin seat su-30mk.T-50 will go much further than Su-35.

    I´ll get me hat

with one air refuel Su-30MK has 5200km range. T-50 will be double of it.

Care to prove that. MiG-31, massive RCS target. Su-34, explain why it’s more effective than a MiG-29.

rcs reduction does not help F-18E as soon as they left the area for airrefuelling Su-34 returned to bomb. with MIG-31 rcs you cant do anything as only MIG-31 has the ultimate long range weopon and it can dictate the fight at place of its chosing.

    Oh okay, $600bn.

Compare it to say the RuAF. How many old planes in there? 180+ F-22s and several dozen F-35s – that’s more stealth fighters than most European nations have fighters in total. Also about 500 F-18E/Fs with AESA, which are hardly old, 100 EA-18Gs, several hundred Eagles with AESA too. How many cruise missiles? A few thousand maybe.

More a case of what they need relative to current threats. Right now, nobody else has stealth fighters, so job done. In 4 years maybe the first enemy stealth fighters will be entering service and then they’ll have probably several hundred F-35s with IRST and DAS, so again, requirement covered and enemy threat countered.

Err… everyone would have predicted that was the aim. How stealthy is it with those canards? Don’t see any other stealth fighter with them. Jet nozzles, non-stealth design. Rear of canards not aligned with rear of wings. PAK-FA – that IRST bubble on ts own has the frontal RCS of several hundred F-22s. What’s the point in an internal weapons bay when that’s on the outside of your aircraft? Non-aligned surfaces, those nozzles. I think it’s yet to be proven that they even are VLO. LO maybe.

It’s the effectiveness of planes not the quantity. Like MIG-31BM2 more effective in implementing no fly zone. F-18E not . SU-34 easily dodge then to bomb Syrians.

How many can carry 2,000lb bombs internally though?

Well someone has claimed 5,400km range for the T-50. The most it could have is about the same as a a clean Su-35 (3,600km) even with marginal improvements to engines and drag.

3600km is with 4AAMs and lattest figure is 11300 kg fuel on uacrussia website for Su-35.

So you’re saying they didn’t have a P-18 radar that only came out in 1970? Many countries not even in the Warsaw Pact received P-18s. Your claim doesn’t stand up.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-18_radar#Combat_History

And they apparently didn’t have an SA-3 either, since that only came out in 1961.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-125_Neva/Pechora

The SA-5s in Libya only came out in 1967.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-200_(missile)

SA-6s in Iraq, Libya and Serbia again only came out in 1970.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2K12_Kub

    SA-8s – 1971.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K33_Osa

It came out in 1970 does not mean the technology behind is 1970. Soviet Union was not very efficient in implementation. They were using vacuum tubes for too long.

But it wasn’t 1950s tech. For a start the SA-3 came out in the 1960s and the radars being used were later model Squat Eye VHF, SNR-125M1 and a P-18, which are actually 1980s and 1970s (P-18) technology and the F-117 is 1980s stealth technology.

Yes, there are AESA radar but the F-22 and F-35 are smaller in RCS and have sophisticated jamming and ESM on top of their stealth.

To get to those tankers, enemy fighters would have to fight through the likes of F-22s and F-35s. Shorad and guns vs a swarm attack, my money is on the swarm attack with MALDs, MASSMs and SPEARs. The truth is that swarm technology presents a threat to S-X00 systems even with legacy fighters. SAMs are expensive, roughly 100 times the price of MALDs and likely 10 times the price of SPEARs.

1986 Libya. Libya had SA-5s, SA-6s, SA-2s, SA-3s and SA-8s. One US aircraft was shot down by AAA fire, none by SAMs. 5 major ground radars were destroyed.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_United_States_bombing_of_Libya

Any thing exported to warsaw pact is second grade technology that was given to them 2 decades later. Yugo and Libya radar tech not more than 1950s.

True – but it did give an insight into the S-400, which drew heavily on the design concepts and technology of the older system in order to reduce development costs.

where you get this information S400 built on S300 tech? and there is no evidence of minimizing costs. Infact Russia always overspends just like Sochi Olympics..
Just look at S300 customers and see why they cant reproduce S350/S400.

It’s been up against aircraft and systems supplied by a peer force constantly. In Vietnam many of the enemy pilots were Soviet. Take the Bekaa Valley Air War, US supplied force vs Soviet supplied force, result, walk over.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mole_Cricket_19

Let’s take the Ethiopia-Eritrea conflict 1999. Did the R-27R (1983) perform anywhere near as well as the AIM-7M (1982) did 8 years earlier in Desert Storm? Nope, didn’t even perform as well as the AIM-7D did in Vietnam during the 1960s.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-27_(air-to-air_missile)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIM-7_Sparrow

missile fired in 1999 does not mean it is manufactured in 1999. it could be early 1980s batch with expired life.

HAL FGFA cant be PAKFA. PAKFA is exclusively designed for Ruaf that’s why no foreign pilot has tested it. they will make modifications to it for separate export model with different materails and ram paint for different rcs. the weight of inside electronics will also be different. no one has said anything about 3500km range.

Su-30MKI has 3000km range while Su-35 with more powerfull engines have 3600km range with 4AAMs for export. T-50 will outperform it by wide margin.

TWICE THESUPERSONC RANGE IS NOT MENTIONED IN ANY OFFICIAL SOURCE ( AND SINCE ONE OF THEM SUPERCRUISE , THE OTHER DOESNOT, SO EVEN IF IT WAS TRUE IT DOESNT TRANSLATE TO 5400 KM RANGE )

25% AERODYNAMIC EFFICIENCY ISNOT THAT SIMPLE TO GET

writing in caps will not make you more credible. just look at airline efficiency compared to 1970s. T-50 is built with most composites.

Bondarev added that the the PAK-FA’s operational engine, dubbed ‘Type 30’, will go into production in 2018 after testing next year.

It’s currently flying with two AL-41F1 engines which give it a top speed of 2,600 km/h (1,600 mph), and a range of 5,500 km (3,400 miles).

There are actually a number of SAM units that use optical/IR tracking. The SA-3 too has an optical/IR tracking ability. The point is that 8 miles is not a useful engagement range. Even a JDAM can safely remove a SAM from beyond that range, roughly 40km at M1.2. Nobody ever claimed stealth worked WVR, the F-117 had no EW and didn’t even have an RWR, it was a sitting duck at 8 miles. Neither of those issues is a factor for the F-22/35. Furthermore, even the VHF radar only saw the F-117 when the bomb bay doors opened, these were later replaced with a different graphite composite, as were the tail fins.

    https://theaviationist.com/2014/03/27/vega-31-shot-down/

    Acoustic tracking? Are you kidding?

8 mile is good range for missile based on 1950s tech. optical tracking works when you already know where to look for. its not the 360 degree.
newest sams are protected by shorad/guns against projectiles. that VHF radar is not modern AESA. you fail to understand that F-117 was dealing with 1950s technology in adverse circumstances for Serbs as they could not use airdefence liberally due other Nato fighters. that even missing point of launching BM and cruise missiles on bases where short range stealth fighters are parked. stealth fighters need non stealth tankers and support otherwise they radiate more. its a complete flop.

I did not produce that range figure. remember it has twice the supersonic range of Flanker. so subsonic range of 1.5 times of Flanker will bring it at about 5400km is very reasonable. just 25% aerodynamic efficiency over Flanker bring its range above 5000km.

when you don’t have any technical rebuttal than comment become nationalistic.
Range is key criteria so that it can be parked outside most cruise and billistic strikes from multiple platofrms. its a highly technical field to design such thing at places outside the cost inflation of rest of population economics. it cant be built in private enterprizes nor foreign help or diversity. that works in olympics but not in this field.

Not only does the T-50 have superior maneuverability compared to the F-35, but it also travels at a 30% higher speed with a range over 2,000 miles farther.

Tracking other planes using the same corridor. Either way, regardless of whether the spy theory is legitimate, the plane flew within visual range of a SAM, that’s a mistake an F-35’s EW system will never let it make and it’s a mistake it can mitigate even if it does.

When you process the facts, an F-117 will give the same radar return at 8km as an arbitrary 1m^2 fighter will give at 53km, it has no EW. So what we’re really discussing is the ability of a 250kW X-Band radar to engage an EW-less 1m^2 fighter at 53km. Of course that’s possible. Heck, it’s an easier shot than an airliner (40m^2) at 135km when you look at the figures.

with in visual range is only use for manpads. the SAM was based on 1950s technology deployed in early 60s.
F-35 engines will make a lot more noise.
