Deterrence against who?
Russia, China and (once upon a time) Iran, or any other peer or near peer country that happens to be at ods with the US Foreign Policy for the next twenty five years.
On the bit about the “Jihadist don’t give a hoot about the F-22”, well there´s a reason why the Pentagon fields around five hundred Reapers, Predators and Grey Eagles, it has something to do with fanatical bearded idiots with Kalashnikov´s and Technical´s, on the “and Russia doesn’t either” bit, sorry you are entirely wrong. For the last two decades severall VVS high ranking chaps have publicly comented on the Raptor on top of that the development of the Sukhoi T-50 entirely dispels the idea that the VVS doesnt “give a hoot about the F-22”, they do. With the amount of money they are throwing at Double Digit SAM´s and the T-50 they clearly “give a hoot”…
SAM are needed against cruise and billistic missile saturated attacks. Plus SAMs are faster and cheaper to upgrade and less manpower intensive in deployment.
Warn the Russians and the Chinese, they didnt get the memo, or else the T-50 and the J-20 are being developed for what?
T-50 has twice the supersonic range of Flanker and more than likely the sensors power and altitude will overwhelm anything just like MIG-31BM2.
Turkey still not take chance with airdefense.

Turkish aircraft fired from Turkish airspace, not Syria’s, according to U.S. officials.
the problem is with India. why sign up for such project where first boat technology will be 20 years old by time it operational. such long time is enough to catch the tech. the fear of unknown will make force changes.

He also said that the final signature of the submarine is yet to be established.

That’s where you’re wrong, supercomputers led to huge improvements in stealth, both in shape and the understanding of diffraction patterns off serrated edges, as did other important advances in composites and the understanding of surface waves, the B-2 has had several updates in signature reduction and materials during their life time. The next advances will be the use of ultra-fast AI to predict the pattern of AESA frequency hops.
Those improvement already you see in F-35. There is no more improvement left from 90s unless you consider the smaller UAVs.
US stealth technology didn’t stop in 1983 either.
.
Its far difficult to progress in stealth shaping than in missile tech update. F-35 RCS will be the same in 2060 what was in 1990s.
You have to understand this basic fact. as Middleast get poorer. EU and Canada dependence on China will increase a lot.
China alone buys more Germanic cars than Japan/Korea/US combined.
BAE existence since 1980s depend on Middleast and that Middleast increasing looking to China.

BAE shares climb on hopes of landing Saudi jet deal ‘within six months’
Soviet Union scientific development practically stopped in late 70s. The R-73 of 1983 practically the same as in 1993. same with MIG-29/Su-27.
Who said can’t be built and what does that have to do with anything being said here?
it cant be built infact this is the reason for its high cost due to managing too many suppliers. All these suppliers countries are getting poorer and jumping on Chinese trade. very undependable for long term projects.
F-22 and F-15 have the same sustained turn rate value ( just saying) , 4.5 gen probably not as maneuverable as we like to believe
F-15/F-16/F-18/Rafale/EF are 3.5 Generation airframes. limited fuel capacities relative to there size, already max out for advance materials and will become more overweight if TVC is installed.
larger airframe has very minimal impact on range.

Travelling at Mach 2.23 – or 2.23 times the speed of sound – the new plane can travel 1.5 times farther than the MiG-29.
It does not matter where it developed the fact that 50℅ can’t be built in US. Plus it need high production rates to keep costs in check.
Those are not MIG-35. The data is wrong. MIG-29M has higher takeoff weight than MIG-29K but same range and lower altitude.
Something completely new or a significant upgrade vs currently fielded systems like:
–Most powerful single fighter engine, whcih can also do VTOL
–VLO shaping
–RAM you can walk on without special booties and is actually part of the plane’s structure as opposed to an add-on coating
–Fully fused data (ie not just fusing pre-determined tracks)
–Completely customizable large single display
–Direction LPI datalinks to connect 25 nodes to share raw data (not just tracks)
–Combining IRST, FLIR, & LTP functionality into a single system
–360 IIR based MAWS that does that and also tracks all WVR airborne objects, tell you where a SAM is heading, detects groundfire (AAA, mortars, RPGs, etc), providers self-BDA, and acts as NVGs
–HMDS that displays anything you want from the system, including video
–No HUD
–Software programmable radio suite
–AESA radar-based ESM connected to the rest of the ESM system
–COTS/VM/Middleware/modular based avionics
–Automated maintenance system (ALIS)
50% of F-35 built outside US and where and how it is built is significant risk to its programme.
IMHO if combat radius being equalized
in term of acceleration it probably go like Typhoon > F-15C > F-15E > rafale= F-16 =Mig-29 =gripen > su-27
in term of sustained turn rate at low altitude it probably go like Su-27 > rafale > F-16 = Typhoon =gripen = mig-29 > F-15C > F-15E
in term of sustained turn rate at high altitude it probably go like Typhoon > Su-27 > F-15C> F-15E > Mig-29 > Rafale = F -16 = Gripen
Though if we know their respective lift coefficient it would be easier to compare
Current production MIG-35 has 19km altitude and 2500km/hr top speed. I don’t think EF and F-15C can compete with it. F-15C will need CFT for sustained high speed performance. All those AESA, electronics and EW pods are heavy.
Resounding rhethoric. Why stop there? Turkey also started “the arab spring” in ALL the arab countires, the first and second gulf war, the dissolvment of the soviet union, instigated the iranian revolution, and AFAIK created the boogey man. :eagerness:
The things you mentioned are short and swift events. Dragging Syria and Iraq wars into long period of time is whole another impact.
