Sorry, but the Russians simply cannot outspend the West in the areas of R&D to claim technical superiority.

Russia always outspends in the fields it choose to compete and those are really hard scientific fields.
It takes nearly 8 years of combined Ukranain and Western engineers work to produce nuclear fuel for 45% of reactors if everything go according to plan for practically outdated reactors.

    https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/07/20/business/ukrainian-nuclear-reactor-now-using-non-russian-fuel-first-time/#.W2sFoChKjIU
From 2021, the number of reactors with Westinghouse fuel will increase to seven, the company said.

Russia’s “confidence” in anything related to technological advancement, especially as it relates to keeping ahead of the west is patently laughable.

Unless your making comparisiin with Soviets who’s lack of use of computers and cnc manchines things longer to implement plus slow recovery from ww. Russian now using ship to ship transfer of grain exports . combined rail and road bridge construction . Every thing complex are implemented faster.

It’s only 400km vs non VLO assets. A VLO assets will be able to get within 100-200km which is well within the range of jammers like MALD-J and LO CMs like JSM.

That 400km is 20 year old figure for export variant. Russia has tremendous confidence in it’s engineer to continuously improve the system faster than anyone else that’s why don’t fear exporting it to every one .

Israel respecting Russian redlines and not joining in on sanctions and arms supplies to Ukraine and on other events that lead NATO countries to sanction Russia, Israel stayed out.

Israel also has tough stance towards Nato member Turkey. if Saudi really want to give money to Antonov projects Antonov will not be looking at Turkey and Boeing to help them out which is not possible anyway with current funding. Saudi and Israel policies are bankrupting EU/Turkey so that EU/Turkey can only afford business on Russian terms. Canada is next in line.(large Ukranian diaspora)

The one border that they needed to defend, was not being defended

you cannot defend that border without constant air to air patrol against standoff missiles. Unless Russia want to shoot down the aircraft the moment it takes off.

There is not much investment from Syria in defending against these kind of attacks.

No evidence except for Israel saying so

Russia would not have to launch themselves as they are “integrated” with Syria and could have directed a launch. A bare minimum it should have warned the Syrians.

They may have notified discreetly but who knows how much damage would have been without they not notifying.

Given that Israel has used F-35s in Syria against Syrian and Iranian troops without nary a peep from the Russians in the way of a warning or a coordinated defence, I don’t put much stock in their claims of “anti-stealth” systems.

first you have no evidence of F-35 entering airspace and than you are assuming they want to use the system against Israel at this point. Saudi has put indirect sanctiosns on Germany.

    @ClanWarrior
Interesting news about the Gripen NG E/F being able to Supercruise (I did not know that fact), how would it compare with the Su-57 should it get the engines that are capable of Supercruise?

There is no official news regarding Gripen E/F supercruise on manufacturer website. Gripen NG is built with obsolete materials so it is overweight for the amount of fuel internally it carries. its supercruise will be at higher altitude short of fuel that will make it even more short range. I am sure you would not find any pictures of Gripen E/F carrying heavy pods on wingtip. Did Gripen NG put AIM-120 on wingtip? how many years it is flying with loads.

Su-35 is built from ground up with new materials and engines. it is officially declared supercruise and various heavy loads on airframe.

Germany impose a fighter on Sweden. Phfft.

Sweden admit publicly they cannot say No to Germany.

    https://af.reuters.com/article/energyOilNews/idAFL5N1T93UA
Our judgement was that we were not able to say no,” Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Mikael Damberg, told reporters.

Until there is a drastic re-awakening of the German public, don’t expect military spending to increase drastically any time soon. Its a shame such a beautiful country is being stolen underneath their noses. The Russia-friendly Merkel government loved shifting money to their equivalent of socialist welfare. Do it for the poor children. Do it for the helpless elders and the invalids. Do it for the innocent migrant children. Putin just laughs at the west and how easy they’ve made it for him to run his scheme. Lots of German government spending sucked directly to Moscow for oil & gas supplies. Allegedly. Everyone knows Merkel is a Putin puppet. Even if America sells LNG to the EU, the fake eco-friendly German government will justify buying the dirtier supplies from Russia. German ministers lied to their population about green energy and money went east. I hope Typhoon technology doesn’t get sucked up, too.

It has nothing to do with German public but new EU integration that is being created. Every country will come under pressure to buy and build EU products and beyond 2022 they will really feel it.

LM highlights Italy’s importance to F-35 programme, as government commitment waivers

do you think this thing would have moved forward without Germany?

Really? I think it more likely that the government of the UK would step in & tell the Italians that for reasons of national security, it was ordering the British operations of Leonardo (which are essential suppliers to the British armed forces) to disregard all Italian government orders – & Sweden would get its radars.

I don’t think you understand EU after brexit and Italian role played in Germanic control of EU. Any action against Italian investment will have much wider counter reaction EU wide. Than there is different kind of Germany and Italy importance to Israel.
I have no doubt if Germany want to impose its own fighter on Sweden they can do so very easily or reshuffle Gripen supply chain to benefit Germany.

The US is a top 5 trading partner for them, while Turkey does not make it in the top 30 for the US

I am not sure where you get this number but even if its correct the 5th number can be irrelevant compared to first two. Turkey is part of Germanic economic system and Germany fear Turkey so to protect EU Germany want pipelines in the North. Countries in Balkans and Ukraine hand over People to Turkey.

Ukraine arrested key FETÖ suspect İnan for Ankara

with S400 Turkey will be even better position to squeeze money out of Gulf countries(They will be force to sell bonds or raise energy prices), closed water supply to Arabs/Kurds and make them more dependent on imported food and products.
