Hi all,
a while since i have got around to posting on here – been extreamly busy recently – however lets not diversify.
Mongu, i believe Eastern Airways also have a large presence now at the IOM with their wetdreams, sorry jetsreams! They operate the LBA route along with several others, and now hove a based nightstopping unit.
Also along with Emeralds passenger operation on their ATPs dont forget that the HS748s still operate scheduled freight services from LPL and a mail run from EMA!
I am booked to fly with baby later in the month out of EMA to PRG – fingers crossed a B735 over 733 (first time!). Monday is Easy again to CDG – another -700 at a guess!
Used to see the aircraft operating daily into Liverpool – such a change from the orange of easyjet – however Aer Arran commenced services last monday to Knock, but at a crazy late time 1x daily, however they certainly are expanding at a phenominal rate!
Watched that today too, not a bad film, but the ACI programme looking into the Alaskan MD-83 accident in 2000 was a good one too, again on C5 last night, which i taped.
EAL_KING the reason they change the airlines name is to avoid the bad publicity. “Did you watch that programme about the Air Canada crash? Phew – wouldn’t fly with them”… if you get the idea! Avoids bad publicity!
They flew into LPL the other day on a Sub for Iberworld. In fact i hear they have picked up some B752s?
Yep G-BMLC still visits GCI regularly as a freighter with Emerald, retracing back to it’s days with Aurigny.
I also remember after the Gill EDI route transferrred to British Midland Commuter from LBA they operated a LBA-BRS route for a short time!
What a ballache he was – how inconsiderate causing LPL to close when it’s our busy period! C’est le vie!
P.s. i like how only 1 easyjet flight was delayed – forgot to mention 2 748s stuck in BFS inbound, and 5 early morning 748 departures delayed as well!!!
Indeed Gill did. It was head office and aircraft that operated passenger routes during the day were often reconfigured to fly mail routes during the night, and then reconfigured again in the early hours ready for a full days passenger flying.
Great to see the Jet2 expansion growing slowly but surely – Geneva was popular last year, and extra rotations have been added, an extra Sat rotation on Ams, and increased winter services throught the programme, pluss the addition of CDG from Sept 1st. I could actually see an extra ski destination appearing possably to utilise the aircraft a little more…
As for LPL-PRG – working at LPL I know many people think this route would be sure winner – come on EZY!
Wow! That was quick – a mear 1 minute to answer us!
Cheers for clearing that up.
I am not sure if they were just a stapgap measure prior to EIs new machines being delivered or if they were a more perminant aquisition – here’s one for Jethro to answer…
Phew! Makes sense to somebody…
I presume the 2 white ones were the ex Swiss examples?
Have you noitced that the 3 shades of .com livery colours are the same shades as the old c/s from the late 1990s? Must have had some spare paint kicking about the hanger! 😀
Thomas Cook are using 757’s on some of the Canadian pond hops on behalf of Canadian Affair, a tour operator. Seats have been removed though to improve overall pitch.
Could this also have something to do with weight constraints? The tour operator will always try and sell it rather than admit they have had to do it!
Removing say 6 rows of seating = 36 seats. Usual config would be 235 seats – so down to 199 or whatever… I think we used 88kg for a males avg weight.
88 x 36 = 3168kg plus baggage – upto 20kg…
20 x 36 – 720kg = 3888kg
Thats 3.9 tonnes plus the weight of the actual seating etc etc – am I reasonable to say a potential 5.5 tonnes off the all up weight?
That is presuming they are intending to do it direct. If they were going via say Bangor for a refuel I don’t know whether it would make much differance?? Where’s Wys the 757 expert when you need him – probably polishing up on his Airbus manuals…
I have never worked with B752s so forgive me if it is well off the mark!
It also appears that a flight sim forum has been opened for those interested. Webmaster announcement at the top of the page…
