Personally I don’t know what the demand would be on any lo-co Scandinavian market from LBA.

Scandinavia has been previously tried a while ago back (late 90s)with the F70 of bmi. AT the time they required the F70 to fill in a 3rd daily CDG service i believe, which subsiquently moved onto the E145 fleet. This was at a time when the bmi LBA operation was a bit of a mess with the fleet with B735, F100, F70, Saab 340 and impending E145 arrivals and it was decided they needed make more sense of the operation and started to standardise on the F100 and Embraer fleets. At the time CPH was said to be coming back, and was indeed scheduled to come back online last year until SAS got upset saying that the Start Alliance partner would hit some of it’s MAN pax. Bmi’s excuse was the start of the Gulf war, however yet again rumours of a FRA and CPH service would be operated this winter if bmibaby took over the ORK and EDI services, with possably the Glasgow route. Another service which i would be surpirsed didn’t make the switch would be the JER run, which is ever popular from LBA, especially in the summer season, with last year having 5 (i think) rotations with bmi alone on a Sat from LBA. Other services included BA and VLM. Currently E145s operate 1x daily weekday service.

Lots of possbales on the cards here, but the majority seem to be tied up by bmi’s future plans!

Personally i think the trip reports were less of an issue that the models and flightsim postings, non of which i particularly had a problem with, the flight reports just seeme dto be the most relevent of the 3.

I think another market which could be tapped by lo-cos is still Germany from LBA.

Everytime that bmi are rumoured to make a change a German run is rumoured – why doesn’t a lo-co take a crack at say Cologne or Berlin and see what the pax demand really is?

And trust me, if a 737-800 failed perform from an airport properly, then the A320 is completely out of the question.

I just think that the “UK” as part of the Airbus partner we should support this and should be happy that we are winning orders from Boeing.

Charters airlines like Boeing aircraft for varioius reasons.
For example, the 757 is popular as it can do what the A320 family cannot; Take off with a full charter load from short, hot and high runways.
The 767 have proven itself as a superb long haul cattle mover.

Quotes from both parties. Seems it had been moving towards A vs B from reading it independently…

Every airplane flying in the world uses hundreds of thousends of componants, each using the cheapest materials to produce a part which undercuts the price of the rivals products – it’s the same the world over.

Oh guess what – we have ended up with another A v B debate again…

G-BMLC was in fact an ex-Loganair machine – in fact it seens to be ex several UK airlines! It still even has the reminants of the Aurigny “A” on its tail!

The Shed certainly is a unique aircraft, especially as it has 2 seperate doors for each crew member to enter the cockpit in!

I dont think G-SSWP will be flying anywhere soon…. http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.cgi?211873 Had been in storage for around a year before she got the chop at Southend.

    Nice shots btw Joe. 🙂

Nope – I knew she was still owned by the company when i last queried, but didn’t realise she’d gone to the big airport in the sky! 😀

Somebody mentioned above about passenger flights – Emerald currently only operate BAe ATP aircraft on LPL-IOM rotations, 5x daily, with flights starting at £18.50 each way including taxes.

Also G-JEMB is down at SEN at present having her paint job done if anybody sees any pics please add them onto here!

What do you think the chances are of JET2 competeing with Ryanair on the LBA-DUB flights.Althogh Im a Ryanair fan I think JET2 could give them a run for their money?

Jet2 have a great reputation in the local area, but would they be able to compete with FR prices? I think that would be the long and the short of it, and i could see Ryanair thrashing Jet2 if a price war commnced – not really a good idea I think!

I was over in CDG with work the other week and flew in with EZY to T3. I don’t think it is too bad as the airport is really well served with free shuttle busses.

Very glad about this run as i might be able to take advantage of a LBA-CDG-LPL “day run” between Jet2 and Easyjet as an alternative run to work the day before my shift pattern starts!

Referance the above it would appear that the Edi route would be operated 2x daily with a Cork rotation in the middle, which doesn’t seem to have an aircraft utilised, and i would say it would have enough time to do a sun run in there, and then a 2 or 3x BRU rotation. If they did incorperate the GLA services into the 2 aircraft i think that would sound more realistic!

I think Paris will remain on the Embs for the forseeable future with the Jet2 announcement of a Paris run!

I have just returned myself from IOM after TT Week, and as it is easily accessable with work I visit quite regularly to visit friends.

The airport i have always found a clean and convenient gateway to the Isle, and apart from Douglas and Ramsey, whose seafronts can be a very grim places (apart from TT week!), the Isle has many hidden places of interest.

Air Atlanta often have the B747 fleet in MSE as they have a maintainance facility there.

I am a bit curious about the ways of bmibaby, lots of new routes and sectors keep appearing with the same number of aircraft, and a limit on the number they can operate. 2 aircraft would be ok i think to operate the services, but they have bases locally at MME and MAN. The routes look good on paper, but they have a good reputation with bmi mainline operating from Leeds. Lo-co services on the EDI and ORK routes would be good, but i would have thought that a 3x daily CDG would have been more of a sensable option. This would leave a F100 to operate the FRA and CPH routes that keep being rumoured.

I hope we get some more stands to park these aircraft on!
