If bmibaby drop BFS-MME i can see the FlyBe route being a successfull alternative.
[QUOTE=RIPCONCORDE]One thing I did notice was that the cargo movements were still going through the grounding, no compromise for the pilots safety then! [QUOTE]
Please don’t make comments like this unless you know what you are talking about! SOme of the Freighters heading northbound could route on a VFR flightplan with assistance via Scottish mil, as advised by ATC.
Highlights from BHX on Sat when i had a couple of spare hours downroute…
OM-BGK – B752 – Air Slovakia
A6-EMD – B772 – Emirates
AP-BEC – A310 – PIA
Plus Biz-jet…
VP-BKZ – GLF5
Nearly everthing else was British other than the odd KLM, DLH, SWS and the charters… however did fill some gaps with FlyBE and BA!
Well done – Quality pic – I do have to admit though, I do miss your pic of the day postings, you had some classics on there!
MME refers to the original RAF Middleton St George base apparently!
my apologies – EZJT it was!
I suppose its being coming for a while. The first batch of A320s were shipped to Belgium a while back, and with the demise of Sobelair im sure Thomas Cook have taken a bit more of the market. With so many Condor B753s kicking about it’s good to see them finding a good new home!
2 Channex F-27s operate the Gatwick mail flights along with an Aurigny ATR-72 – Aircraft usually are G-BNIZ, CEXB and BWDB respectivly.
Any chance of a flight report Steve? *Hint Hint* 😉
Not really much of interest on the flights
Outbound was operated on G-EZYT LPL-CDG, and return on G-EZKB both -700srs aircraft. Clean and on time! I only had an hours notice of the trip, but i did get several hours worth of spotting at CDG – all i can say is WOW – What an airport! Dropped off what i took down and then had a few hours to kill… so 120 new bits logged and time for my return flight home!
Well after my first “easy” experiance last week at short notice to CDG i am sure i will take advatage of one of these flights!
Well done Tom!
I have to say i myself am a fan of the 717, but it is such a shame to see so many parked up. I would have thought perhaps some of the MD80srs operators within europe would have picked up quite a few on the cheap out of storage, but it has not been so.
LZ-BHC operated into LPL from Dublin and out to Bourgas (i think) on Friday evening. Also of interest was 9A-CTK an A320 of Croatian was in Thursday datime too!!!
Well i think the thread says it all!
Best of luck with Virgin!
Great report – good read!
