The airline is not doomed for failure. The company which runs the airline (CT2) decided on a trial basis to bring the companies charter flights “in house” instead of using other operators to operate on there behalf. The venture has been costing more than anticipated, and as such have reverted back to the old system.

i am pritty curious about “Finningley” (it will always be in my book!). The routes on offer do look enticing, but it will be interesting to see who else puts pen to paper there. Ok so we know Thomsonfly will be operating, so will Britannia (sensing some sort of pattern here…) but who else at present?

Very interesting to read seem as Thomsonfly have only just started there first routes out of a controversial CVT. I would certainly be interested at some of the above routes though if the fares are right!

As said before Ian, many thanks, and thanks to the webbie and Key publishing. The website had been badmouthed previously on the online community, and when i reported this to the webbie he asked for URLs – by the time i had got around to searching the other forums moderators had deleated the relevent threads and had dealt with the problems efficiently. I never replied to his PM as i felt sheepish that the evidence had been dealt with effectively.

When i joined this forum 3 years ago there was a lot smaller community and it was run extreamly well. Last september it started to go “downhill” to such a level that all of the original members left – now we need to bring them back and make this into the web community it is designed to be and intended to be used for.

Ian, thanks again, and lets get this place back on track!

yea – for example look at some of the Ryanair aircraft (the -200srs).

Over the years all the below have operated for them…

Boeing 737-230 – Originally ordered by Lufthansa,
Boeing 737-204 – Orginally ordered by Britannia,
Boeing 737-2K2 – Originally ordered by Transavia
    Boeing 737-2T5 – (?)

All were ordered by the above companies and have over time been aquired by Ryanair – this may be through a bulk purchase, such as the ex-Lufthansa machines, or picking up one or two machines at differant times. This can prove probmental as many smaller comapnies find, as the aircraft all have differant features, and i know from some of our machines, had differant modifications by previous owners, so some items are located in differant places in the cockpit, and made by differant companies – main features i notice are weather radar scopes and TCAS. All the basics are in the same places tho… i hope!

Although air rage has a lot of alcohol induced problems, not all of them are. As you say purser until you are in that position you may totally change your view.

One story that springs to mind is when one of our companies stewardess’ was physically grabbed by a passenger when a sub-charter was being operated about 5 years back out of Belfast city on behalf of a major carrier. The passenger then stated something along the lines of “every time you operate this service it’s late” – but not in quite such a way. The passenger was offloaded and asked what provoked the reastion. It turned out that 3 times in a month his particular flight had been delayed due tech aircraft and other operators had been sourced. The representative (handling agent) had then told the passenger that the fault due the subchartered company i.e. us. This was a get-out clause so that inncident didn’t look bad to themselves.

The passenger failed to realised that a phone call was recieved at 6.45 by the other operators ops dept that their ATP aircraft was u/s. We had to dispatch an a/c from LPL to BHD to operate the service asap and i believe a 8.45 departure was achieved – this calling crews in off stby etc to posn the a/c to BHD and operate. In many circumstases the passengers do not realise the scenario which has led to a delayed departure etc – i believe this does not always lie with the airline, but handling agents. They often do not tell the passengers enough information, and basically lie – do you wonder why passengers get frustrated?

They don’t have to disclose the whole story, but if they are straight and tell the pax that there is a technical problem and another aircraft has had to be sourced to operate the flight then they may be more understanding!!!

YO is just a customer code – they may specify they want a more powerful engine such as a 22k CFM over a 20k.

    Examples…

-?36 – British airways ordered the aircraft.
    -?3V – Easyjet ordered aircraft.
    -?AS – Ryanair ordered aircraft.
    -?77 – Ansett Ordered aircraft.
    -?04 – Britannia Ordered Aircraft.
    -?1K – Airtours/MyTravel ordered aircraft.

Just a few examples – there customer codes only apply to boeing aircraft.

Bemused – just wondering – how would you intend on making sure a sports fan doesn’t book himself/herself on a scheduled flight? I’m sure for example when Newcastle played Palma Easyjet will have carried a fair few footy punters, and they will have booked on the web – how can you stop that? I’m pritty certain that these incidents are quite isolated, and in many cases as with incidents involving aircraft, blown out of proportion fairly regularly by the media.

Take last Monday for example. The early morning arrival of the Ryanair flight into Liverpool must have had 40+ Irish based Liverpool supporters onboard, most of whom will have stayed overnight and spent 2 days in Liverpool with it been the bank holiday weekend – these are sports fans going to watch there club – whats the differance?

last time i was there i managed to get most of the aircraft parked on the piers and the frt apron by walking along the front of the terminal to 2 little areas where there was a low wall and i could just about read off all the movements with my binocs. I’m sure i will certainly use this thread at some point again when i transit STN! Many thanks.

a shame really that the regionals are looosing out. It has to be said that before the arrival of bmibaby MYT had been amongst the airports biggest customers, and in whatever industry you operate in you cannot rely too heavily on one customer alone!
