yea – the novalty must wear off very quickly – same as it does at LPL with EZY B737s – i only need 2 – 300s (G-EZYD and G-IGOK) and 2 of the new G-EZK -700s 🙁
i managed to find a little spot for spotting next to the passenger drop off ppoint where i could get all the aircraft landing and taxiing out, and then at the opposite end of the terminal there is another area landside to view from. All in all i got 21 new RYR B738s in about a 2 hours period – i already had a few as they do a daily roation through LPL but i was well chuffed to clock so many!!!
The general concencious between travellers seems to be that it is far too crampt in the 3+3 config, but I had no quarms flying on it!
Just watch out if you sit inder the wing as there is no overhead lockers!!!
I think it is actually just the renaming of the Italian arm that he used to operate under the Lauda Air SPA branding?
LOL – Sorry i never noticed i did the BLK-STN, BLK-STN twice – hmmm sorry for any confusion!
Hi LGKR,
I know on the outbound sector there were exactly 100 people on the service, but on the return i would say it was around the same – estimating 80% full.
The reason this service is a winner is the fact there is no way of getting to Stansted from the North at a reasonable flight other than this service with Ryanair, or the Easyjet Service from Newcastle. Eastern do operate it from MAN but it is approx £120 return as your cheapest fare! As for when it was a BAe 146-300, on which i had travelled the route before (october) i have to say these secotrs were also both fairly full. All my flights have been on the evening rotations though, but i think Martin EGTK has flown the morning service previously?
The reason i choose Blackpool is i always fly down after my work shift finishes in Liverpool, from here it is easy enough to get to Blackpool, and when i go back home to yorkshire it is only 50mins to an hours drive away.
As for your lo-co hops, I only do day return day trips – such as a day in Amsterdam or Dublin, Belfast etc (Belfast next i think!). I do not do the hopping around on Lo-cos for the day, the best person to ask for this would again be Martin_EGTK who does that fairly regularly.
Hope that helps!
Sorry to have to say this, but over the last 12 months the forum has had more posts of the younger members advertising their websites or falling out with everyone etc, and the forums has just become a much worse quality than 12 months or so ago, and they have probably found somewhere else they prefer posting on!
great place – one of my favourites – been twice now – try http://www.plane-mad.com for some excellent ACE reviews!
great report. I was at BCN last June/July and took a visit to the almighty Neu Camp stadium – what a place that must be with 120,000 mad Spaniads and Scots in!
Glad you had such a great trip!
Ian, all the very best with the Airbus course – hope it all works out – keep us informed!!!!
a good review! Got reports to post on tuesday refernace my BLK-STN, and by then will have my STN-BLK with Ryanair/Buzz Stansted! 😀
Ok…
Av8 haven’t and wont be going bust – the tour operator behind them – CT2 – tried to bring all thier flights in house but it is prooving to be too expensive and will return to their previous ways of selling.
The reason the B752 is parked up at MAN is because they dont currently have their british AOC nad therefore cannot operate it on thier own flights yet. They do fly it approx once a week though to keep the aircraft out of short term storage and for crew training sorties.
The B763 on the otherhand is operated and flightdeck cre provided by Icelandair on AV8s behalf, but the cabin crew are all employed by Av8… i think! Damp leasing i believe is the phraise here?
I like Dublin – i presume the main reason being it is cheap to get to and isw a change of scenery. If you have the whole EI and RYR B732 fleet it is still a good visit, but if you need any of the aformentioned it will be your mecca!
Great pics there! I have attempted a couple in the dark from work on film and they haven’t come out – got some more to develop from Liverpools Europe games with some of the visitors!
Keep em coming!

Wellwell, is the 742 certified flying into Newcastle… I assume not at MTOW, because then it needs more than 3000 meters!
hmmm well spotted – we wont question the many other regional airports it has/does fly into!
What do you mean is it certified to fly into NCL? I am sure that nobody will have thought of that in the planning of this flight!!!
For your info off the top of my head i think LBA has a Rwy length of 2250m – not all is usable for a departure, but i have seen B747SP, B741, B742, B743 of operators such as Wardair, Air Atlanta Icelandic, British Airways, Corsair and a couple of others operate out of there – including a couple of occasions where 2 were on the ground at once. Does this mean they are breaking the rules?
Nope! In fact most of these flights are within Europe such as the Leeds United Airlift to the UEFA cup semi-finals in Valencia, or Wardair charters to Canada – none of these will be at MTOW – don’t worry yourself Jens!!!
For your info this one was off to Palma carrying Newcastle United fans as mentioned above – thats Palma in Majorca 😉
