I agree with the above comments. BLK is a bit too “tacky?” for my liking, but i find the airport easy to get to and also as mentioned above a desent alterantive to MAN, LPL and LBA. Its about the same drive time (give or take 30mins) to BLK – and to get to STN for me is the best option – £20 return with RYR or £120 with eastern – guess what i’m choosing!
Hi mate,
the 2 aircraft you saw were G-BEJD which is the only Series 1 HS748 flying in the world today (gonna have to get a jumpseat on that at somepoint), and G-AYIM. ‘IM’ was the one in Emerald Colours and JD has a green and redy/brown band around her.
Hope it helps – sorry for the late reply – needed to get them off the computer!
Excellent news – an aircraft type i really like!
Can’t say much about our pax services start-up at present, although expect formal announcements to be made soon! Pax services are scheduled to operate on ATP aircraft.
Islandsflug do not operate any cargo services from LPL, although B733QC TF-ELM operates on behalf of Channex on the BFS-LPL-BFS-EMA-BFS run, whilst pax -400s ELD/V operate usually on the morning rotation on behalf of RYR.
So can you explain where Blackpool is not growing?
As far as i was aware after Ryanair introduced its BLK-STN and BLK-DUB schedules twice daily BLK was starting to expand the airports pax output – just by around 400% i believe in its first year? Ok it seems to have lost FlyBE on the BHD run, but they have Keenair/FlyKeen operation BLK-IOM-BHD (or is it BFS?), and although it will generate next to nothing in terms of pax numbers traffic, BLK-IOM with BNWA.
As said above the aircraft usually flies into Chester (Hawarden) and if it went to either MAN or LPL it would be as a divert
… and Neos in Italy (forgot about them!)

I’ve never seen ever fly over my house bigger on approach to LPL than G-BYAF on my birthday in August!!
I know of 2 Boeing 747sof Corsair landing there for Liverpool fan trips, expecially for the UEFA cup final in 2001 was it? Thinking about it http://www.nwan.co.uk has just about all the bits on there!
… and White Eagle Aviaiton in Poland, and Britannia AB in Sweden, and Corsair in France! 😀
Plenty “big” has and does land at LPL – just not that regularly – as i’ve said above i’ve seen B747s, 767s, A330s, Tristars, DC-10s, VC-10s etc land there – oh year and the AN-124 landed there a couple of years in a row to do the Xmas shoebox airlift at Christmas!
as usual with most of the younger members on here it was a charter flight- Britannia B732 Leeds-Gerona in 1989 aged 4.
well done Sandy – keep em coming!
I think it started on 2nd June last year as they currently operate LPL-Manchester Picadilly and Chorlton street coach stations – and i’ve used it before!

LPL’s runway can currently hold only 752s at the biggest.
Thats funny i could have swore i have seen Tristars, B742, B743, DC-10, B763, VC10, Beluga, A310, A330s either with my own eyes out of the window at work (i work opposite to stand 7) or on pics in the offices – All on the ground at LPL!
The aircraft usually flies into Hawarden in Cheshire and has diverted into both LPL and MAN before that i know of.
great stuff – i flew ELD in Dec and ELV 3 weeks ago and to be honest they were dated but clean at the time – shame to read that. Nice pic of CNY – another of the aircraft i have flown in!!!
