the upstairs of the classic jumbos are certainly a lot better than economy. This i am speeking from again the Atlanta experiance, but even with a full charter confi lower deck there were 18 or 24 seats upstairs which were well worth the extra that the pax paid for them. The flights were operated for LOCO

Personally Carling Premier, its got the texture of a Beer, smooth taste, no bubbles, but its hard to come by. I’m not a fan of Carling or Fosters, so draught largers has to be Carlsberg (preferably export), Kronenbourg or Labbats which is quite hard to find now!

And after a good lager session i go onto the “Lemonades”, or Sminoff Black  when i get a bit bloated!

Now bottled lager is a differnat matter…

i can think of one market RYR should try and develop in – operating feeder services from UK airports to Stansted. ATM ther eisn’t really many UK airports served on this run. Even if FR just put on a once or twice daily flights from Leeds, Teeside, Manchester, Liverpool into Stansted (which would only tie up one or two a/c) they would provide a feeder market into it’s Hub and SPoke system of Stansted – they do it to Dublin, so why not via Stansted!

cheers for that – just poste dit on the Leeds newsgroup. As the passengers theoretically missed approx 11/12 hours of their trip (in incoming pax arrived 13 and a bit hours later), i’m sure this cup has cost MyTravel a lot of money is bussing pax and paying for compensation claims if any?

    Jet river crash investigated

An investigation is under way after a privately-owned jet crashed next to a river on the coast of mid Wales on Sunday afternoon.
The pilot, Craig Penrice, fractured two vertebrae after ejecting from the vintage aircraft shortly before the crash.

Mr Penrice landed in the water, until he was rescued by an RAF helicopter after around 30 minutes.

Mr Penrice – who tests planes at a Lancashire base – was initially taken to hospital in Aberystwyth, but was later moved to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

The Hawker Hunter F6A jet – a former military aircraft – was seen plunging into the Dyfi Estuary near Aberdovey at around 1515 BST.

The plane, which was the flagship of the Hunter Flying Club, was returning to the clubs from an air show in Northern Ireland.

    The pilot was travelling alone.

The jet was embedded in a field on the Borth side of the estuary

Eye witness Martin Fowls was looking out over the estuary when the incident occured.

“I noticed the plane, heard a loud bang, saw the pilot eject,” he said.

“The plane carried on, veered straight up into the sky, then veered straight down and crashed into a field on the other side of the estuary.”

Helicopters from RAF Chivenor and RAF Valley were called to assist after the crash, and were joined by the North Wales Police air support unit.

The plane is now on lying on marshland on the Borth side of the estuary and accident investigators have been informed.

Mr Penrice lives with his wife and son in Lytham, Lancashire.

He works at the nearby BAe Systems complex at Warton, where he test flies Eurofighters before they go into service with the RAF.

yep, it was gonna take 6 hours to fix as far as i know, hence the transfer of pax. I presume they’ve done an a/c swap, i.e. 2 757 part loads onto a DC-10, and perhaps a halful DC-10 onto the manchy based 752. At least it means our a/c can go back on routine.

To be fair tho the a/c if flying each day from abou 7pm to 4am so i expect problems to occur, and don’t understand why MYT don’t keep swapping more regularly to conduct more maintainance on them, and cut down these delays

could this explain Leeds/Bradfords loss of the BAe146 on the Verona services for Tour Operator Crystal from Leeds/Bradford on a Saturday, it been replaced by 2 E145 flights with bmi?

Also i presume that this is within the Open Skies rulings as it exculdes charter operations?

Some excellent photos of some real classic a/c there! As more of a commercial fan i think the Electras in particular look fantastic, and the Sea Vix in her Red Bull c/s certainly looks better flying in that c/s than she may have “sat on the ground” in a Mil one, if you get my drift…

Can’t wait to see some of them either at Elvington or Southport later this year – coming to think about i hows about Sunderland too! Will have to get the diary out for some serious time planning!

Also Mongu, have you tried the new LBA-IOM run yet? Only change is it’s 2x daily JS31 with EZE as opposed to 1x JS41 with BA – More seats per day and movs i suppose!

Just wondering as this may have no Cabin Attendant onboard it

Hi WD. As far as i am aware airlines such as bmi don’t use the a/c at any airports where Weight restrictions or Runway length would be a major consideration.

For example at Leeds we have based a/c of B762 and B752 size, eliminating this porblem, and the E145s operate from here to many destinations.
    – Glasgow
    – Edinburgh
    – Paris CDG
    – Brussles
    – Cork
    – Jersey
    – Copenhagen (Soon to be)
    – Pisa (weekend charter)
    – Verona (Weekend charter)
    – Heathrow

Non of these fields as far as i am aware would have any problems with handling a heavier version of the 145 or 135 for that fact. The smallest airport bmi operate them into i would say would be Norwich, which also proves suitable for handling a/c of the A320/B737/757 size.

Thank you very much for your help in the previous posts, very useful info!!!
