Plans included in Aircaft of the Fighting Powers are not good .
I believe Weta have made a master for replica Lancasters for the movie , moulds have been constructed from this and the fibreglass replicas are being produced in China . Most film work will presumably take place in Welliwood .
Peter Jackson has had a life long passion for aviation , he owns many WW1 aircraft and replicas , is the Chairman of the trust board of a great WW1 aviation museum and has a lot to do with the Omaka airshow which takes place every other Easter . For a some what private person he shares this passion with the public through the shows and the museum which in my oppinion is world class.
A Swordfish crew accomplished a similar feat involving an Fw190 late in the war .
I believe that in many cases NIVO was used , but this may not have been the only colour used as some illustrations appear to show a brighter green .
Olive Drab 41 should be FS 34087

It appears to have been the custom to test fire guns before going into action . This each pilot would do and thus if all that had been done on a sortie was to test fire the weapons then this would be indicated by the amount of ammunition left in the aircraft upon its return .
I am picking that the “other” magazine is Aeroplane , and if my memory is correct , it was a letter or short article from one of the other Seafury pilots on the day.
Valiant Wings mentioed two claimed downed on 29 May , but these could be misidentified .
There is a Mk1 nearing complete restoration with turret in NZ .
Peter Jacksons DH4 is a post war American built mail plane I believe , He has a Caproni parasol with a rotary engine , it appears to be unrestored , original and has 1913 on the side . And has also recently had a replica SE5a build to original plans and powered by an original Wolesley Viper .
Not conclusive , but a look through Bomber Command losses for that period shows several lost but none on operations . A similar search through Coastal Commands losses show a few lost on shipping strikes , one described as lost while dive bombing !
It had a small bomb bay in each wing root .
The Royal Navy used them too , some in Dark blue but these may have been post war .
Googling those titles brings up the usual story as does the Graham Thomas book on the subject and searching the records may be easy for those in the UK . However as I have all the magazines I shall have another go through those . If this has in fact been done to death on this forum then it would have been simple to point to the thread and I could read the information for myself . A search using the obvious titles produced nothing .
I had always believed Lt Carmichael was responsible for the downing of the MiG , a couple of years ago I read an article or a letter which appeared to refute this . I cannot for the life of me remember where this was and would simply like to find it .If there is a link to it here point me in the right direction please .
