,… yeah not a good deal eh and not a very impressive result at all. 🙁

What was impressive? The whole of NATO’s might taking on a small nation eroded by years of civil war? Thousands of raids, cruise mssiles etc.? Taking weeks and weeks of bombing? Most the Serb air force and army still remaining intact? Bombing the Chinese embassy or civilian trains and convoys of refugees? or bridges and factories that even WWII bombers could do more than 60 years ago? Tell me what is impressive Joe-Joe.

I’m curious, if cruise missiles are as fantastic as you make them out to be…

What do you think is fantastic Joe-Joe? F-22, PAK-FA (the subject of this thread), SAMs, Harms, your avatar or your ability to infest and spam threads?

Something which you curiously seem unable to understand….

What do you understand Joe-Joe? Go back and think about your previous years. Tell us what is bothering you and everybody here will understand you.

    Weak troll there

I give you that one. You are the expert in that field.

Nice to see you observing the Forum Code of Conduct.

Nice to see you observing the troll code of conduct.

Find some other forum to infest, will you?

Over 600 posts of flame-bait, spam and non-sense in a short few months he has been here, I don’t think Joe-Joe has time to find another forum to infest. Which is shame…on second thought, maybe not so, if he abandons this one he might just go and pollute another forum that I happen to like.

    Grow up little troll

Forgive him Nick, he has had (or still has) problems in his childhood. I am sure you will sympathize with him if you find out about his real problems.

    not me Son

Sometimes he thinks he is our father…

    honey

Sometiomes he thinks he is our spouse…

Reading your posts i’m betting you subscribe to this publication

Is that what you read in your dentist’s waiting room?

    Duh…

Joe-Joe, that is the most logical thing that you said in your 600+ posts…

Not really, in many ways it was a success, it forced the Serbs to keep there radar sets switched off, many SAM systems are not too usefull are they with no radar to use.

…and many attacking aircraft are not too usefull if they have to carry ARM missiles instead of bombs.

That dosnt sound to competent to me, i mean come on each and every day hundreds and hundreds or sorties are flown striking at will and yet you consider them competent

Who is so competent or incompetent? Hundreds and hundreds of flown strike missions and very little achieved on the ground…. Sometimes I wonder why the Serb operators had to man their SAM systems. The amount of money NATO invested in the missions: fuel, maintenance, ordonance etc. must outweigh the damage they caused on the ground.

Mindblowing, kinda like saying a goal keeper did well cos he saved a couple of shots, yet another 10000 went past him and into the net!

    Sounds exactly like you Joe-Joe.

I am just wondering what is your purpose on this forum? To entertain, to annoy, to be pain in the a$$???

All of the above…plus it has to do with something thatbhappened in his childhood…

You don’t sustain heavy losses in your equipment and you manage to shot down several of enemy’s valuable assets. You have to be god damn proud at this. At least I am.

Well said nicksi, I agree with you (and most people here will too) . However you are saying it to a troll who will never comprehand that, and doesn’t even care. As you said, all he wants to do is….

Please spare us your pityfull nationalistic excuses for your forces awful performance.

…and here you go, this is troll performance at its best.

I wonder what performance you can do in real life

Just watch him in the bathroom.

… even some posters that annoy me (and there are few) can sometimes come up with useful or new information, but in this case JJ I can rest assured that wont happen with you…

Garry, how can you put Joe-Joe’s name and the word “information” in the same sentence?

Yes, a long time ago. They have an AWACS version of the AN-72 transport jet and a propeller aircraft based AWACS to be based on their aircraft carriers. Both planes were flown, but none made it to production because of the break up of the Soviet Union.

In addition, they currently offer an early warning version of the KA-32 helicopter (sot of an AWACS).

Don’t have a high res photo of that missile but if you are researching it, I can recommend to watch this 39 min program in Russian:

    http://rutube.ru/tracks/678728.html?v=0afe8b5fe0f190d8d1920b76c0847d16

The title translates to “Celestial Gladiator” in reference to the S-300V missile.

It describes the evolution of Russian (Soviet) SAMs up to them gaining the ability to shoot down ballistic and cruise missiles.

The program is fresh (2008) and has just been shown on Russian TV.

    Great video footage of SA-4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18 shoots on drones etc.

You will be able to understand most of the program (despite your Russian language handicap). Enjoy.

That’s nothing strange. Every pilot will confirm you that a Mi-24 Hind cannot match a transport Mi-8 Hip in terms of speed or maneuvrability, let alone the souped up Mi-17. Combat helicopters carry hundreds of kilograms of dead weight which cannot be removed (like armor or systems for aiming and firing weapons).

…and Mig-23s having to use afterburner occasionaly to keep up with the Tu-22M Backfires they are escorting.

I watch both US (Discovery, History channels etc.) and Russian (Udarnaya Sila, Voennoe Delo etc.) military documentaries.

The US produced ones are nothing more than propagandist infomercials designed to entertain the average unknowledgable Joe-Joe. For example, I have never seen from them a single engagement (say in Vietnam) where the Americans did dot come out victorious:rolleyes:

The Russian made ones also contain some propaganda for the local masses, but they are more informatory and are far better made. Apart from showing bright victories and successes, they are more open in discussing failures, mishaps, crashes etc.

It is up to us to be able to filter out the junk out of the data/information and move on.

Wow… they actually posted a picture of the new PAK-FA refuelling next to that Su-34… optical stealth and radar stealth together… perhaps we should call it a 6th gen fighter… 🙂

Garry, it is not PAK-FA. You just exposed the Su-24 with PLASMA STEALTH Version II (optical and radar stealth).

    Now you see it

Russia lays down the fourth Borei next year
    28.04.2008 16:26

This news came from the Commander of the Russian Navy himself, however, he did not give the name of the ship which will be laid down at Sevmash next year. Assumingly, it will be some next “submarine duke”. (All three Boreis so far were named after Russian ancient dukes). According to the Admiral Vysotsky the name was not yet selected.

Speaking about the head sub Yuri Dolgoruky, which soon awaits sea trials the Commander said that “it would be incorrect to say that all its systems meet the requirements of today”. “No head ship even during Soviet time met completely the requirements set to the whole project. But all of them (head ships) had very big basis for further modernization. It will be done for sure. So far in the sea, we are going to check its noise level, the ability to keep in the starting corridor, maneuverability, acoustic systems and readiness of electronic systems quickly and correctly solve the tasks set. Also many other things. And from the fourth hull which will be laid down in 2009, the submarines will get new technical solutions which will work till 2040”.

The Admiral stressed that so far all problems which were mentioned in the context of the new subs and missiles were related to the poor-quality of the so called cooperation of the third and fourth levels (subcontractors of material and accessories). Bringing the missile to the level of acceptably characteristics will be finished this year, the Commander said. “It really has unique characteristics and it is important for us to get out of it all possible which was deemed by the designers. I do not care about the technical reliability of the rocket, it will be finished. The main thing is to receive those characteristics which we sought. Moreover, we already plan its further development and modernization”.

The ‘factories’ are Rostvertol, Kazan (also design) and Ulan Ude

    Ken

Other plants are in Kumartau (KA-27/32) http://www.kumape.narod.ru
    Progress in Arseneev (KA-50/52 and MI-34) http://dias-dizign.fatal.ru/
and the STRELA plant (KA-226) – website is off.

Are these plants also going to be part of the holding????

And I wonder if they ever intend to fit A2G munitions?

I would say that is an absolute certainty.

Stealth is more valuable in the attack role than in the pure air defense one. Russians are pragmatic, I hardly see them using a good chunk of their defense budget on a pure fighter aircraft.

Remember, even the first stealth fighter (F-117) was really a strike aircraft.

I guess any missile can down any aircraft. The F-16 pilot will have a hard time timing his 9g evasive maneuver exactly to the point where the missile passes him, and even an F-16A cannot maintain 9g for long (at least not at any useful altitude).

    Good point.

The Soviets definitely had not the intention to get this asset in close distance to any fighter, as the MiG-31 considerable benefits rapidly decrease to zero when in visual range of a fighter aircraft like the F-16 or even the F-4E.

In general yes, but not always true. Once the long range missiles (R-33) have been used, some Soviet tactics involved a high speed dash towards enemy fighters, getting into close range firing position (R-60), shoot and get the hell out of there at full afterburner. No getting into real turning and twisting low speed dogfights. Even if no enemy fighter is hit, it will force them to take some sort of evasive maneuver that will burn fuel and/or force them to jettision their bombs (if they were on a bombing mission). Some Vietnamese airforce pilots used these tactics on their Mig-21s (although they had maneuvrable aircraft and coud get into dogfights).

    …the F-16 or even the F-4E.

No doubt about the F-16. But the F-4E is not exactly a maneuvring champ…
