About 300 J-7Es and another 60-80 J-7Gs (with more coming.) About 50 surviving J-7C/Ds. Probably several hundred of the earlier variants as well. A safe guess would be over 500.

Obviously, the FC-1/JF-17 is to replace the F-7 as the single engine cheap export fighter in the future.

But amazing that Chengdu is currently building aircraft in large numbers for three programs: J-10, FC-1 and J-7G.

Unsure as to where they got that serial and model. The only large spine Chinese MiG-21s are the J-7C and the J-7D.

The color scheme is like this J-7D.

Most of the pictures of the J-7C (earlier variant) were camouflaged:

Officially, China never received the PF (“Fishbed-E”). It did get the MF (“Fishbed-J”) from Egypt when that nation broke with the USSR (Egypt got submarines and J-6s in return.)

The PF and the MF are both MiG-21s variants with the enlarged spine.

    The MF-derived J-7C.

more specifically the second picture, where kanwa is surprised that sukhoi has o clue how many J-11Bs are getting produced and cannot possibly get anything out of this.

Sukhoi probably had assumed that China would need Russian parts for the J-11B. But I doubt it is outside of the contract.

Again, I think it will be like the Z-9 and Z-8. China can build as many J-11s as it wants, with or without foreign parts.

Your claim about that is based on what?

Based on the fact that the Z-9 and Z-8 contracts are already in place for unlimited building of those aircraft.

Based on the fact, that China is building the J-11B.

The contract must allow it pure and simple. Anything else about illegal production is speculation.

I am not a supporter of the hypothesis China has built unlicense J-11s/QUOTE]

No, you are the only one saying China is building “unlicensed” J-11s and then arguing against it.

What most people argue for is the most logic solution and that’s the contract allowed for continued Chinese building of the basic Flanker design.

As someone noted, this is the same type of contract for the Z-9/Dauphin and the Z-8/Super Frelon. China can build as many Z-9s and Z-8s as it wants. This is looking to be the same case with the J-11.

For the sake of Nigeria’s pilots, I’m glad they bought the new Chinese plane rather than refurbishing their old MiG-21s (I don’t know what Bangladesh was flying). However, at this point the J7 seems to be more of a placeholder – something to give your pilots something to fly until another aircraft arrives.

Nigeria got new built F-7NGs. These are the new cranked-wing aircraft based on Pakistan’s F-7PG with the single piece windscreen.

Look up and read AFM’s article on the F-7PG a few years ago (excerpts of it is in one of the Chinese New, pictures threads.) The article stated the F-7PG has more range, a much better view from the cockpit and more maneuverability than the MiG-21. The maneuverability is actually very close to a F-16’s.

There are no refurbished J-7E/G/PG variants. The type is fairly new. The Bangladesh ones are new as well. We had pictures of them in the Chinese thread in two-toned blue camo.

Well, there are several reason for that

First would be the big influence US has over most of its continent neighbours.

Because they don’t have money (except for Chile, Venezuela and Brazil to a certain extent).

FAR more because of politics than money. The F-7 is the cheapest fighter on the market today (that a nation can buy as a new air frame.) And it is still selling pretty well with Nigeria and Bangladesh getting new aircraft in the past year.

That sounds more plausible than saying China has open an illegal line of J-11s.

You are the only one talking about “illegal” line of J-11s, Strevitel. Making an absurd statement and then arguing against your own statement is the kind of stupidity that got you banned in CDF.

The J-11B was out in model form since 2002. We saw it with air to ground ordinance that were not part of the SK packages.

So the argument is not that China is using an “illegal” line but this is how the contract was always constructed. China is building the J-11Bs under auspices of the contract.

But ……. posted at CDF by Xinhui a white J-10 prototype 03 and the exhaust doesn’t look like an AL-31FN one !!! ????

Nice! Maybe the widely rumored original WS-10(not WS-10A) on the first prototypes before the AL-31.

whereas the PAF has always been IAF centric and for that its numbers are adequate, the IAF has a much larger mandate.

I doubt the IAF has any larger “mandate.” In fact, the PAF had traditionally played a role outside South Asia unlike India.

There are more than a few Soviet jets attributed to the PAF during the war in Afghanistan. The IAF on the other hand has never played a role other than against Pakistan.

I’m currently working on a follow-on article detailing what’s wrong with the FC-1 both as an aircraft and as an acquisitions program.

You forgot the most important point to the program and that’s as a starter program for the Pakistani aircraft industry.

Tell me which program that Pakistan can build in house that is comparable?

and how was ARJ-21 in a different situation?

The ARJ-21 is rated by industry pundits to have a far better chance at success than the RRJ.
