It is pretty funny that the US military never actually defeated a Communist military in a shooting war (I say shooting war because we did win the Cold War through economics).
The US military actually did defeat the North Korean military. After Inchon, it was a route for the US Army until hitting the Yalu and the Chinese. The US lost the territory of North Korea to the PLA (PVA.)

Pakistan – 57 F-7PGs (+ 6 FT-7PGs)
Nigeria – 12 F-7NIs (+ 3 FT-7NIs)
Bangladesh – 16 F-7MGs (? trainers)
There are also a dozen planes sold to Zimbabwe.
The F-7 is still selling because it fulfills a niche in a world dominated by American, Russian and European fighters.
The same for K-8. Like the F-7, the K-8 is also still getting orders.
The FC-1 and L-15 are the follow-ons to these and if the current interest is any clue, they will done even better. The F-7 never had the publicity that followed the FC-1.

Why don’t you ask the Pakistanis, they seem to be fairly satisfied with F-7PG. Although one did crash recently, not sure what the cause is.
And he can ask the Bangladeshies and the Sri Lankans and soon the Nepalis too.
The truth is if his so-called national aircraft industry could actually produce anything then he would put up a thread called “Indian exports” instead of skulking around in this thread and attempting to engage in flames.
Since neither of these countries supported the effort in any way, they don’t deserve any of the contracts. Though it’s looking like Iraq will never be rebuilt. America, Britain, Australia, and a few other countries took all the risk and are paying for this effort. They deserve the contracts. Not France, who was secretly violating UN sanctions anyway.
China actually had a quite a few large contracts for small arms, personal armor and heavy construction equipment for the Iraqi government. Even the US military can’t afford to ignore the “China price” (at least not for their Iraqi charges.)
As for the Balkans, I don’t think the PGM-attack on the Chinese embassy was forgotten by either side. Full US involvement would end up with Americans fighting a messy war (far messier than Iraq) with groups being supported by a variety of outside powers.

Sri Lanka has a full suite of Chinese imports from small liason craft to jet trainer to fighter to large transport.

A small air force dealing with insurgency and distributing aid would need a transportation arm more than anything else both to insert troops (on a short runway) and to deliver supplies (both military and civilian.)
A half dozen Y-12s (or DHC6 Twin Otters) for liason and platoon size/special forces insertions and two An-12, Y-8 or C-130 for company-sized forces and for supplies.
A half-dozen Tucanos or Pucaras for COIN.
If there’s money for jets then a half -dozen J-7/MiG-21s and associated trainer/attack craft (K-8/L-39)
Helos aren’t cheap (not even Russian ones) and actually gives far less bang for the buck than fixed wings but there is nothing like one for insertion into areas where even a short runway is not available. The Chinese copy of the Dauphin, the Z-9 is an affordable buy.
So two of those if you could afford jets and then have some left over. If you have even more money left over then you could go for a real helo lifter like a Mi-17. Helo gunships are not worth it for the price.
The above mentioned numbers are actually bought by small African air forces in real life.

The swingwing of the F-14 alone dictates that the Tomcat requires more maintenance than a fixed wing type like the Eagle.
In fact, the variable geo wing concept was dropped by the Navy after the F-14 on account of maintenance (and weight) penalties though variable geometry benefits carrier aircraft more than land-based ones by allowing optimal configuration for landing and takeoff (unswept) and for speed once air-borne (fully swept.)
I hate to change subjects, but what is the deal with the latest Q-5 variants such as the J model? Is it in service? How many?
The two seat Q-5J prototype only flew last year. It’s future is not very certain. People say it is just one of many proposals from China’s many obsolete assembly lines to keep them running. Overcapacity is a serious problem.
Most likely, there would be a few dozen made as trainers or perhaps a few PGM deliverers taking advantage of the second pilot. But the range and load of the design are way too limited.
What about the Q-5D and E? How many of those have been made?
There is also the F. There are probably 200 or less of these late models with the majority of them being the D variant. Series production has supposedly ended for all Q-5s.
My dumb question of the week, WRT the Q-5:
What/why are those red half-circle marks on the wings and sides?
Those are visual cues on the wing roots and fences. Most likely used for formation flying. The large wing fences can confuse depth perception from a wingman looking from the side so the half-circles are painted to allow the wingfences to be distinguished from the body of the plane.

The Q-5 is in BF2? I don’t have the game but I thought the Chinese forces only had the J-10 and Su-27.
Maybe it wasn’t exported because nobody could justify the cost of such a specialised platform.
Soc, come on, you should know that the Foxhound’s main mission was the B-1 not cruise missiles, although as an improvement over the MiG-25 Foxbat it was supposedly able to track cruise missiles as well but was a secondary requirement.
The main problem with cruise missile interception is ground clutter as mentioned earlier.
But since cruise missiles in the 1980s were mainly launched from the sea (by US naval vessels/aircraft), the core Soviet doctrines was to push the US Navy as far away from the coast as possible with the its giant, long range AShMs like the Kitchen.
Also, a cruise missile passing through the littoral (sea/land divide) is almost impossible to track anyways because there is absolutely nothing that can distinguish a sea-level target flying through layered land and water environments on the coast.
Forget cruise missiles going through the littoral, the RAF found that it is almost impossible to track a fully laden Buccaneer flying at low altitude and knowing exactly where it is heading.
Only the F-14/AIM-54 combination has been tested successully against cruise missiles and that is with a radar developed-specically for open ocean (AWG-9) and a giant missile that had its own powerful radar housed in its nose cone.
These things are getting a little long in the tooth and they’re limited by the design, so pouring money into them isn’t a real option.
The JASDF has been looking at with either newer versions of the C-130 or a domestic development, which is less likely.
Domestic aerospace programs over the last 20 years haven’t met a lot of success for the Japanese. Characteristically for them, they have been superb at reproducing existing designs with efficiency and quality. But, unlike their naval and ground programs, when faced with developing their own aircraft it hasn’t been nearly the success.
Like Germany, Japan was legally prohibited from developing an independent military aviation industry after WWII.
Any aircraft built by the Japanese must go through American review and American input were/are used as levers of control when a project is allowed to go on.
Japan (especially in companies we still see today – Mitsubitshi, Kawasaki, Nakajima/Fuji) had some very good designs in the war years.
