At least you got invited inside, we were kept in the garden, though little one still loves the postcards she was given.
We will return.
Have a look at the Whirlwind Project to see how things are coming together. But I’m sure some experts will be along to explain how they cope.
How much is the Argentinian extremists sabre rattling and how much is the Daily Wail stirring?
Trouble is (as debated elsewhere) if they did take the islands we’d probably have to wait another decade to take them back once we get some more carriers and aircraft.

He’s borderline comic, not always funny but then it has been blown up out of proportion, if a regular comedian had said it, it would have been glossed over.

Thanks for clearing that up, however it is still a nice tale and is still one of the more unusual dogfights in the closing stages of the war.
Taken from here so I have no idea exactly how accurate it is, for those that are interested.
The real last dogfight over Europe happend to be at the 8Th.of may overhead Czechoslovakia near Prag. Some Russian fighteroilots where making aerobatics overhead the city because they thought ceasefire was on the 7Th of may. Maj. Erich Hartmann (flying a Me 109 K-4 “black tulip 1”)took the advantage and shot down his last opponent (MiG-3 being his 352 confirmed) of the first Russian fighterregiment sending the pilot down on its parachute.
The fight you are speaking of was on may 1Th. Unteroffizier Tillman and another unknown pilot tried to reach allied lines in a Fieseler Storch C-1 from the Stab of JG-54. In fact it seems that they stole the aircraft. When an L-4 got them in sight its observer fired his pistol on the Storch and had a “lucky Shot”. He hit the Prop and the German pilot landed near an American tank-unit. The landing place was Sömmerda which was later lying in the DDR. The traces of Unteroffizier Tillman are lost then, i would suppose he was POW then.
Many Luftwaffe pilots toke the chance of grabbing an aircraft and trying to reach American lines, there are lots of stories about these “adventures”.
The faith of the others in Russian hands is described in Erich Hartman’s biography.
Still doesn’t give the aircraft letter though.
Sad news indeed and thoughts go out to his family and close friends.
There was an episode of mythbusters which proved that it was possible for a bamboo shoot to grow through a body….

PPP Did you read the whole thing? It was near Paris.
Despite this it is still sad and shocking that children can and are treated in such inhumane ways across the world. The worrying thing in this case is if someone can do that to a child then they will probably feel no remorse for what they have done.

What was the last all British fighter produced…the SHar and that retired a good few years ago. Britain may be involved in a lot of stuff but we’re not exactly self sufficient any more, not like Sweden.
Compared to what we did have I think the view of the decline of British aviation is justifiable.
Heres the gripping story of what might have happened…
So it’s a novel then, not a historical text.
Probably Amelia Earhart and Glen Miller picked him up in a Lizzy and retired to a cattle ranch in the Brazilian jungle.
