Wow, looking great! It would be very interesting to see a mock combat with a Gladiator, or one of the Hawker bipes….

Now there’s a thought, sure someone who likes their flight sims could do something, regardless of the different roles the aircraft were designed for it would be fun.

And just supposing one did fly the wrong way and ended up behind enemy lines it would have been appropriated anyway.

Thanks for the replies and a shame that there wasn’t the interest or opportunity, would have been a lovely scheme and little run around for a squadron somewhere or other.

Thought I’d do a ‘what if’ for you all anyway.

Don Allen now lives in Ohio where he has replicas of all the images he painted during the war. He produced more than 100 piece of art in total

Now that is a collection I would like to see.

However for those with a West Country accent, today is just a normal day. Well maybe it is an excuse to drink more cider than usual.:D

I don’t think I stated or implied that the thread of wiping out a heard should be ignored. TB, foot and mouth, increase in overheads, reduction in profit, there are a lot of different issues that all need addressing, however just killing a lot of animals in the hope that it ‘might’ make a difference is flawed logic. Would it not be prudent to explore more humane options first instead of relying on old wives tales?

I anticipate the response would be along the lines of allowing a continued threat to cattle while other options are explored and I cannot argue with that so it does seem that if animals make profit then let them live, if they cause a dent in profits or are an inconvenience then we can exterminate them.

If you call dairy farmers losing their livelihood as their herds have to be destroyed once TB is in them ‘political’ then I must agree with you.

A dairy farm with no cows on it turns from a business into a millstone.

    Moggy

That is still based on the assumption that badgers are the primary carriers and assuming that there is no other method of control. Under the previous government there were initiatives launched to explore and develop an oral based vaccine for badgers, it was due to see extensive trials in 2015, the current government has cut the project to save money. Seems to me that it is political and trying to divert attention from other failures from the current coalition.

There are a great many other threats to dairy farming, not least the control of milk prices by the distributors.

Quite a few that are all relied on now, the PCB, fibre optic cable, the internet.

I would possibly go with the internet as it really has revolutionised communication and the way we interact with the world but is still very much in the infancy so the full impact will not be understood or appreciated for a long time.

    Hey Inkworm,

    What about the glorious XFY-1?!?!

If I want to get them all flying again I’m not sure if the budget would stretch that far, we have to be realistic about this!:D

Plus it’s prop driven and that rules out the tilt rotors as well.
