I wonder if they are relying on Link-16 for F-35B-to-Ship links or MADL?
Your CPFH rates for the F-35 are WAY off.
Per the latest SAR
The F-16 is $25,541 and the F-35 is $32,554 (11.55% more).
Where did you get your numbers?
Mk_1 eyeball is limited to low level and clear weather, especially at night with NVGs. EODAS can geolocate not only AAA, SAM, fighters, GTMI, & ManPads now but also has demonstrated the ability to do the same with MG, Mortar, cannon, and rocket fire (likely Blk4 feature).
SAR is not reserved for the APG-81, just better at it.
Any pod will still not be integrated to the level of EOTS, which is getting it’s own upgrade at Block 4.
Really, what is the CPFH of a F-15E carrying 5k of bombs?
What is the Flyaway cost of a F-15E if bought today?
Do you think the Mk1_Eyeball is better than EOTS & EODAS, especially at 5k+ feet, not to mention of the SAR modes for the APG-81?
The F-35A could very likely do the same job as the F-15E for less and have better SA.
Yup.
For each wing pylon, the BRU-57 allows for each pylon to carry 2x1k weapons (JDAM, JSOW, JSM, SOM-J, etc).
Except no fighter aircraft needs to carry six 2,000 pounders
Might want to tell these guys they are wasting their time.

If they did not envision a time that they would need to, they they would not have given it that capability.
Remember that one F-35 carrying 6 2k bombs replaced the need to send 3 F-16s to drop those same six bombs because the F-16 will almost always carry wing tanks due to low internal fuel load.
It does not have to be 6x2k bombs as it could be any combination of 6 pylons of heavy weapons like JASSM/StormShadow/LRASM, BRU-61 (x4SDB/SPEAR3), BRU-57 (2x1k bombs/JSOW), Torps, etc.
OB is the one that compared the cost of operating the F-16 to the F-35 while completely disregarding HOW it would operate.
What does empty weight have to do with weapons pylons?
In low threat scenarios the F-16 can still only carry bombs on two wing stations if it has to carry wing tanks (typical loadout).
The F-35 can carry bombs on 6 stations without losing fuel by removing wing tanks.
Don’t forget the escorts, decoys, IFR & ISR, etc
So you’re equating the policies of two brutal regimes (where the disagreement with or merely fail to meet the expectations of can lead to your death) with that of the Public Affairs office as they are today???
That is some jaded view on life there…
Nothing new about that either. It just links pilots & maintainers who want to give interviews (and are good at it) with the PA dept. How else is the PA dept supposed to answer calls for someone to interview from press sources?
