Finally
I created a GIF. It shows the missile halting it’s rearward momentum, dropping STRAIGHT down, then moving forward BEFORE motor ignition. Bad CGI.

What is this devilish weapon?
That is a research UAV. Lots of info after the link.

Opinions?

No, it’s not just a buzzword. There is an ACTUAL difference between “Air Dominance” (aka “Air Supremecy”) and “Air Superiority”.
This is from the NATO GLOSSARY OF TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
This is good:
air superiority / supériorité aérienne
AS
That degree of dominance in the air battle of one force over another which permits the conduct of operations by the former and its related land, sea and air forces at a given time and place without prohibitive interference by the opposing force. 01 Feb 1973
This is better:
air supremacy / maîtrise de l’air
That degree of air superiority wherein the opposing air force is incapable of effective interference. 01 Feb 1973
The F-22 is classified as an “Air Dominance” (aka Air Supremacy) fighter. It’s a step above “Air Superiority”.

Pleas don’t use wiki as your only source claiming that the APG-79 has APG-77/81 levels of LPI. If that were true, Boeing would be screaming it from the rooftops during the Indian & Brazilian competitions.
…. compared to what?! As a SH-driver within a similar capable network support I would not fear a hostile F-35 in general.
The SH has a barn-door RCS relative to the F-35, omni-directional network/comms, non-LPI radar, no IRST, and no EODAS. Given all that you still think you have an better chance than the F-35???
or an Air Superiority mission… You seem to completely discount it’s VLO and RwR/Avionics superiority.
Most of the former (F-35) claims have been sacked in the meanwhile and the present F-35 program does not differ much from that of the Eurocanards avionic-wise.
Which early claim besides price has it not met? What has been removed?
None seriously will see thousands of F-35s any longer.
No partner has canceled and the DoD is sticking by it’s 2400+ numbers.
In the meanwhile most people realised that the gains from the passive stealth of the F-35 can be reached by a smart active jamming as well.
Hogwash. If it were true then why the PAK-FA & J-20? If technology gets to that point the F-35 has space in its sensor bays for active jamming modules (imagine VLO and active jamming). Besides, any active jamming can be detected and triangulated.
The AGM-88E is probably the most capable ARM available these days, but it’s questionable whether it would be allowed for export and integration into a non-american platform in the first place.
The AARGM is ok’d for export with a few US only pieces of tech removed (3rd party targeting & Weapons Impact Assessment). Italy is a partner in the AARGM program for their Tornado ECRs and should have received their first LRIP AARGMs last year.
I’m not convinced by JRDRAM. But I’m eager to see how well it’s going to work.
One of the technologies being developed for JDRADM is a focus-able warhead. This will allow it’s smaller warhead to inflict the same damage to a target as the AARGM’s larger one.
I think we will see damaging EM & laser based solutions before we see self-defense missiles.
That graphic has been denounced by the navy since it came out. It is all based on theoretical costs birthed in 4th gen historical values. No real JSF info was used.
This is what 37 years of flight test experience gets you. They are a LOT more careful and do not want ANY surprises in the future. Remember that they are also testing 3 different airframes this time.
Due to better performance in flight testing and test points, the USMC is pulling 2 F-35Bs from the schedule early to get them ready for shipboard certification this fall. They also see IOC as late 2014/early 2015 for the F-35B.
