It can only be used at those distances if you can geolocate the target. A single 4th gen asset cannot do that. However, a single F-35 can geolocate an emitter.
As Red Flag demonstrated, a flight of F-35s was able to “fight their way in, attack the targets, and fight their way out” all while dealing with multiple, overlapping SAM environments. The pilot said that if F-16CJs would have tried that, it would have been suicide.
So yes, Red Flag has shown that an F-35 with a JDAM can do more than a 4th gen with a HARM.
The Swedes claim that the Gripen has some LO features that make it have a lower RCS than any other 4th gen jet in that size range.

The F-35 has already shown that it can do more with a JDAM than 4th gen can do with HARM.
This is not to say that HARM is not needed in a future fight. ATK already has an internal HARM on the drawing board (as do others).

Lol… it would have to cut the size & weight by a third alone not to mention substantially reducing the warhead size.
That is not a “compact” version… that is an entirely different weapon.
UIA is in Block4 so it will be in the F-35 by 2025.
Internally the LJDAM will take over the duties of the 2k Paveways so the only thing I can’t say for sure from that list is the Taurus.
Now, if they got off their a$$ and did the UIA coding for Taurus now then it would be ready in 2025.
The thing you are forgetting is UAI and it’s the reason why you do not see a large weapons plan laid out for the F-35. It’s simply not needed.
Instead of a multi-year integration effort tied to a dedicated Block upgrade that takes tens of millions of dollars to do, UAI only takes a few months and can be immediately deployed to every F-35 (or other UAI user) in the world.
For example, every variant of JDAM is already covered under UAI along with SDB1/2 and JASSM. Foreign UAI projects in the works are JSM (Norway), SOM-J (Turkey), HGK (Turkish JDAM), French AASM, and Spear3 (UK).
