If Rafael were smart then they would do what Turkey is doing.. create UAI drivers for Spice. Since they are getting their own “orange wire” F-35As, then they can do their own separation tests too.
IIRC UAI comes in either 4.1 or 4.2. We should get a hint in the next budget release.
Having them UAI also opens up the Export market to all F-15E+, latest F-16 30/32+ block, and future F-18E/F sales.

Block3F can track & hit up to 40mph but they wanted to up it to 70mph. Without changing the software block they are able to do this by updating the weapon itself. Since they are asking for in-prod weapons, no extra development at all since the weapons involved are already Block 3F compliant.

They are constantly handed their asses at Red Flag, etc by the F-22 which uses LPI for a vast majority of it’s AMRAAM shots.
LPI might work well against 80-90s era threats. Hardly against the Su-35.
Modern fighters like Rafale, Eurofighter, F-15E+ (ie K, SK, SA, etc), SuperHornet, Growler, etc would disagree.
LPI radar aside, you still have problem of generating fire solution by ESM.
At best, Su-35 can geolocate the single transmitting F-35 by RWR and triangulation between multiple Su-35. On the otherhand, F-35 groups will know about every single Su-35 by using radar and share datalink
To geolocate an emitter, the various ESMs would need to be sensing the same signal at the same time. AESA radars make this very difficult and LPI makes it even more so. Throw tactics into the mix (like each F-35 is scanning a small area of the sky) and two opposing ESM may never be targeted by the same F-35 and therefore would never be able to triangulate a solution.
Sure, if you’re sticking to fantasy-land where existing aircraft are going to be replaced 1:1.
That strengthens the case for not delaying the F-35 since now multiple 4th gen have to be kept flying before being replaced by a single F-35.

Because you seem to ignore the whole LPI thing. That and the whole sensor fusion thing.
Fully fused sensors means more than simply combining tracks on a single display. It’s about taking partial data from each sensor, analyzing it, and then determining if & what you are seeing.
This is the same cost/benefit analysis that has to be done when calculating Concurrency costs.
For every F-35 that is delayed is a 4th gen that has to stay in the air longer, require more support while it’s there, and takes more of them to get the job done.
The Rafale cant feed images into a helmet like DAVE does, by using a pair of “fish eyes” the French got a huge coverage with just two sensors, but those images are hugely distorted, wich is entirely irrelevant for the job (detecting heat) they do, but are useless to feed into a pilot eyes (the poor chap would feel like he was on drugs).
I was aware of that was was just stating which fighters had IIR based MAWS and not which MAWS could provide video imagery.
Software can easily remove any distortion from a fisheye lens if & when they decide to display a video image.
Those features don’t require additional sensors, they are software driven functions. Adding them doesn’t require more space and hardware. Well mabye a little for increased processing power.
Most of those (save for data fusion) require an IIR/video based sensor that covers the full 360 around the plane. Besides the F-22, no other operational fighter has an IIR based MAWS. Rafale comes close but the body & wing block the view below the aircraft. There are several others that are working on an IIR based solution, but I cannot think of any that are operational.
Will the F-35’s EODAS be unique forever, obviously no. I’m not claiming that it will, just that is is now.

If you are looking at a TBM/ICBM from miles away then that TBM/ICBM will be within detection range of several F-35s. Automatic triangulation thanks to MADL.

These are features of EODAS that MAWS does not do:
1. Provide YATO (You Are The One) functionality which tells the F-35 if the threat is headed for him or not. Info in below video and the last “Features Video” at the end of the post
2. Track all airborne objects (SAMs, AAM, planes, drones, AAA) within the WVR environment (lots of info in the “Featurs Video” at the end of the post)
3. Allow for the guidance of HOBS missiles

4. Act as a replacement for NVGs in order to see around the aircraft in low light conditions.
