By peaceful transition of power, the term applies to the “parties” (small “p”) involved, ie the POTUS and POTUS-elect.

No it did not as Defense-aerospace.com got it wrong. This is the “main” contract that every LRIP has and is not the final, agreed upon price.
LRIP 9 had the same “main” contract in November of 2015 so it makes sense that LRIP10 has it in Nov of 2016.
Here is the “main” contract for LRIP from November of 2015. for 5.3 billon while the final “agreed upon” proice was $6.1 billion.

Um… take a look at the full export contract price for Rafale (India, Egypt, or Qatar) vs the SK F-35 deal…. the Rafale was more expensive in every one of them.

Second, the JSF seems unlikely to provide a platform that has a hardware and software architecture that would allow the easy addition of any new technologies.
um… Virtural Machine & C# middleware based avionics hosted on an open, COTS architecture interconnected with optical networks… it does not get any easier than that.
On top of that add an established API & UAI weapons interface.
If you are at the fume point in the F-35 you are getting ready to land so you are not running the radar hard (the highest heat source), ESM, etc.
btw, There are PAO based cooling systems that use the fuel as an “additional sink” not an “only sink”. There are several PAO to air heat exchangers in the F-35.
Nobody has said “one is as safe as two” only “the benefit of two over one is negligible and is outweighed buy the increase in procurement/development/maint costs and loss of range.”
Sorry to burst your bubble but “safety” is not the number one rule. Fighters, like all other projects, are a balance of requirements.

You can use the same argument with “If you want to put the survivability of your crew first, you buy a fighter with the best SA and lowest RCS”.
Let’s match it up… how many pilots since 1990 were shot down vs had an engine failure that caused them to eject? How many died as a result?
