I took these two photos at Rhoose in 1987 and 1988. I apologize for the quality but I was alot younger back then and they were taken with my first SLR camera of which I had little experience!

I hope their of some use to you.

    Vympel,

Having played Lock-On, What are the your own personal PC specs to get the game to run well? To be honest the demo I’ve got runs like a dog no matter how I set it up and I have the following spec machine:

    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
    Memory: 512MB RAM
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b
Card name: Hercules 3D Prophet 9000/9000Pro Series
    Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
    Display Memory: 128.0 MB

Normally I buy games on the strength of demo’s but I’m struggling to be convinced by Lock-On. Would I need a better spec machine / graphics card or maybe more memory to get the same results that your images display?

    Your thoughts please?

    Regards Plazz

The fully interactive cockpit in Jane’s F18 is probably the one thing that sets this game apart from the rest.
Strike Fighters is a game where you can just switch off after a hard day at work and fly around to your hearts content and blow things up with ease, the Lock-On demo gave me this exact same impression (Someone prove me wrong and I may buy it).
If you want to experience some of a modern day fighter pilots cockpit work load then Jane’s F18 is the game for you. After all, the modern day flight simulators may look nice from the outside but their static cockpits are fairly mundane and featureless overall.

I stress again that this image is of poorer quality compared to in game graphics due to image resize thanks to forum upload restrictions. I assume that if you have the ability to upload to a URL this isn’t an issue?

    Joke

On a tour of Australia, the Pope took a few days off to visit the coast for some sightseeing. He was cruising along the beach in the Pope-mobile when there was a frantic commotion just off shore. A helpless man, wearing an England rugby jersey, was struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 25 foot shark. As the Pope watched in horror, a speedboat pulled up with three men wearing Australia rugby jerseys. One quickly fired a harpoon into the sharks side while the other two reached out and pulled the blue semiconscious England fan from the water. Then, using long clubs, the three beat the shark to death and hauled it into the boat. Immediately the Pope shouted and summoned them to him. “I give you my blessing for your brave actions. I heard that there was some bitter hatred between English and Australian rugby fans, but now I have seen with my own eyes that this is not true.” As the Pope drove off, the harpooner asked his buddies, “Who was that?”
“It was the Pope” one replied. “He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God’s wisdom.”
“Well” the harpooner said, “he may have access to God and his wisdom, but he knows **** all about shark fishing. Is the bait holding up okay or do we need to get another one?”
