This Spitfire model looks like one of those fake clocks Spitfireman is knocking out, did you find any metal fragments/clockwork parts in it? belated Birthday greetings !!:)

Changing the inner plugs on a merlin is no fun at all, doing it from underneath does not bear thinking about, you would get serious neck strain or have to lie on a high bench.

The stencil writing looks totaly naff and I don’t think having had originals in the past that the suggested markings for the gun camera are anything like.Where does the price come from seriously ???

Similar to the fake German grip I have made by this seller, it would not surprise me if it were a doctored alloy repro grip. 😡

I totally agree I am cautious and probably would not have bought this if it was badly damaged, it would have been nice to confirm the history but that would have been icing on the cake. As you say its a nice piece and more usefull to me straight.
I do buy from ebay there but usually always hardware, something I know a little about , (not German stuff :o)but I also travel around quite a bit and the stories I sometimes hear face to face can be even wilder. There are also some A1 sellers a few of who frequent this forum . 🙂

Thanks for sorting that out chaps to be honest I have been to a few digs and thought it was much to straight and complete.
I bought it for what it is rather than believing the history so I am not sad at all. You know it would be nice to get something for once which actually had the correct history. Not sure I could take the shock. 😮
Thanks for Ian keep meaning to update info I remember you mentioned it before.

the gun button surround does not look off the same grip!

Try asking some searching questions and you’ll get instantly blocked by this seller, I seem to remember a friend of his asking if there was anything strange about it in an earlier thread, a loaded question perhaps?
